I cannot find a good American cheese in the supermarket. This is not an anti-American question but an expression of frustration. Are American cheeses processed differently than cheeses from other countries? Too much pasteurization? Not enough ageing? Bad shipping procedures? Why are they so bland and greasy?
I'd like some real cheese with my whine.

Buy only imported cheeses and never buy pasturized processed food product (most american cheese) which is really vegetable oil and food coloring. If you eat fast food and they ask "do you want cheese with that" Laugh as they serve whipped vegetable oil with food coloring. Kind of like "Butter Flavor Crisco" What you say??? Bean Gum in all natural ice cream - just what do you call that. American dairy is dangerous. Margarine is number 1 (1) on the list of most dangerous foods known to man if it is hydrogenated. And they let them call this stuff cheese because women's brains can be addicted to it and it shuts them up. So girls eat American Cheese and shut the mouff Biotch.

I love cheese and American made cheeses are wonderful. The cheese labeled "American Cheese" is pretty bland. However, Americans produce many other cheeses, cheddar, monterey jack provolone, swiss, mozzarella, brie, havarti, muenster, etc. Almost any type of cheese you can imagine is made right here in America. Perhaps you are buying that cheese in the cold section of your supermarket that is packaged in plastic. Yes, these are heavily processed. Try using the deli counter of your supermarket, or a high end supermarket, or a stand alone deli. Tell the counter person your experience and ask them to recommend some good cheeses for you.

Good luck and good eating.

First, stop buying cheese in supermarkets. You might want to find a specialty shop, or better yet just order all your cheese.

Fantastic Cheeses are made in the US in Wisconsin, Maine and Vermont. Most of the best Cheddar is made here in the U.S.

There is a company in Vermont that makes excellent domestic Bufala mozzarella using the same Water Buffalo stock they breed in Italy. Plus, Because its domestic, the cheese is also more fresh. See Starhilldairy.com

Dude. That's not cheese. Put it down. You're in the wrong isle.
No, J/K. American cheese is usually just used on grill cheese or regular foods. It's not especially contoured to the details of your .... lol... wine. Try chedder with your whine of choice.
