Hey Billie, I guess it depends on what qualifications you are looking at. I assume since you mentioned school, that that what you are talking about. It seems as though we all have to qualify for something in life. To get a driver's license, you have to take a test to qualify that you know the rules and are willing to follow those rules. To get a loan on a house, you have to achieve certain qualifications, or not get a home. So, in response to your question, qualifications are an essential part of life. Would you go to see a medical doctor or a dentist, or even a barber if you weren't confident that they were qualified, or met certain qualifications to be a doctor, dentist or barber? Think about it? what qualifications do you have that make you a good musician, or a good husband, or even a good friend? E-mail me sometime and we can discuss life in more detail. rncbaird@yahoo.com

Qualification means whatever you are qualified to do. Like if you have worked in restaurants, then your qualifications would be the experience you gain doing that work.

example: you were a short order cook, then you would list that and the tasks that involved doing that job.

so in short...qualifications equals what you can do in any given field of work.

P.S.

Just because you dropped out does not mean you cannot go back. It is not the end of the world. It is something that you can make right. You might start by taking night classes and work your way up. where there is a will there is a way and its never too late to finish what you started.

It ain't over till the fat lady sings........chin up

Unfortunately, not of us will ever be able to reach hollywood status or even get a glimpse of the lime-light.

So, we resort to normal working jobs. Some of these jobs don't particularly care if you have qualifications and others do. I suppose it all depends on the job your applying for.

I studied hard through my college to get the qualifications and too this day, it means nothing to the employers or any of the job applications. They are more interested in seeing proof of any work experience rather than a piece of paper saying you can do this and that.

As much as i would like to say how much the qualifications mean to me and the job, unfortunately they are nothing without Work Experience.

To be qualified for something means that you have the ability to take on the task. Obviously you and your bandmates have proven you are "qualified to rock" by exhibiting said skills. But in the beginning a manager at some club might not have been too willing to see your band play unless they had played in some other places he had known. "Ok, well you played at CBGBs, well then you can certainly play here." or "Ok, you couldn't even get booked at the Tic Toc Inn... I don't think I can guarantee you a spot on Friday night."

I think academic qualifications are a standard now as companies want to make sure you're smart enough AND well rounded enough to make a difference even if your role changes from job to job within that company.

It depends on how you define qualifications. As long as a person has a basic education and has a good grasp of English and Maths, then there should be no problem, after all you can always go back to further your education in later years. My mum who is in her 60's left school at 14 to work, and when she was in her late 30's returned to study and qualified as a Primary School teacher.

Well if your leaning towards the direction of love then, no. If you love someone you should never care what their background is like. If the love of my life was blind, def, armless, or even crippled It would not matter. But if you mean qualifications for a job then that would be a big deal. unless your genius.

Nope. I've worked in retail for the past 13 years, and that prepared me 100% more than 4 years of college did for my job doing HR work

Less qualified people to compete with in the labor market. Particularly in jobs that require credentials. I'm glad I MADE time for school.

Well, I don't think I'd DESIRE to date anyone who didn't finish high school, but I just finished graduate school, and my boyfriend never graduated from college. So while an education is good to have, it isn't EVERYTHING. If it were, I should be making much more money by now.

The most messed up people I know are "qualified"...it seems "qualified" has nothing to do with "quality" or ability...and is subjective (matter of opinion, just in case! lol ). A piece of paper has nothing to do with talent (uh, uh, uh...yeah...I like it). It is what it is. Persistence and a belief in what you are doing levels the playing field.
