Honestly, you probably can't. Why it would be lovely if we could all just stop doing things that we don't like, the reality is that it is very difficult to change. One thing I will say is to really look at your relationship. If she flaunts her advantages, she is not a good friend. Everyone compares whether they admit it or not. There are allot of people claiming they don't care what people think but that is bull. Otherwise we would all be in the same car and the same clothes using what is functional, but we all know that in the current culture you must have the latest of everything to be cool. It is not you, it is the world you live in that makes you feel insecure. I am pretty old and have yet to meet a truly sane person. We all have are fears and insecurities, most just lie about it. Being aware of the problem shows that you are on the right track. I once had a friend that was soo gorgeous I was invisible next to her, it sucked, I am human and so are you.

Learn to appreciate the person you are and the differences that you have. That's often how friends feel about one another so now you just have to turn it around and apply the same thinking to yourself!
You don't say whether you do this with negative thoughts of your friend or of yourself, but if its of yourself, it could be self esteem/confidence issues so take a long look at what you are good at and if you find that difficult, ask your friend to tell you the things she likes about you, what she thinks your strengths are as well as your weaknesses and if you have a close friendship with her then tell her your thoughts and maybe she will be the best person to help you see your own qualities!

You are You
That's It.
Maybe there are things about your friend that are good, attractive or unique...
I'm sure there are things that you don't like either.

do things to help your self esteem, or to decrease your ego, depending whether you think you're better or you think your friend is better.
