I agree. Yes, I can open my own door, but it would be nice if men remembered their manners and showed a little respect for the gender that gave birth to them. And riding the bus? Forget it. No one offers their seat to women or even the elderly. I rousted a couple of kids out of their seats so a blind person could sit. Maybe if parents taught manners to their kids, people would have a code to live by.

SIlly me, the parents don't live by a code, either. Unless one counts rudeness as a code. By the looks of this site, I'd say a LOT of people use rudeness as their code.

Actually few lived by the "Code" at any time. An elite style that was accepted and embraced by warriors of many cultures and times but not the norm anywhere or anywhen.
You have the option to accept and embrass as you wish. It is a personal choice to be an elite. That what elite means.

To be honorable & chivalrous doesn't mean that one has to be foolish. Respect is given where respect is due--and people should not be duped into chivalry unless it is for something of true (honorable) value.

Honor is overshadowed by selfishness. Then again selfishness is a product of stupidity.
