i don't have much shame, so if a strap or wire needs adjusting, i just do it as i'm walking down the street. but if you have serious spillage problems or in need of a major adjustment that requires putting your hand down your shirt, if you can't make it to a rest room somewhere, then just pretend to look in a store window or at a notice board and make the adjustment with your back towards most people. i doubt anyone would really notice that.

The proper method is to:
1) Walk to the bathroom.
2) Adjust.
3) Leave the bathroom.

Sorry, there's no polite way to do this in public. Simply duck out of sight if you have to, into a bathroom if possible. And buy a better-fitting bra so it won't happen again later.

Go to the ladies room. Make sure you're wearing the proper size. If you're spilling out, obviously you're wearing a size or more too small.

If boys can adjust their "boys" in public, I have no problem fixing my bra (within reason, I won't stuff a boob back in). At least I am not picking at my crotch.
