Rather than only "some" Jehovah's Witnesses saying they're Christians, really *ALL* Jehovah's Witnesses know and are proud to be Christians!
Trinitarians repeatedly pretend that Jehovah's Witnesses are not Christian. Trinitarians use an artificial, trinity-specific definition of the term "Christian" which excludes anyone who does not believe that Jesus is God Himself, rather than the Son of God. Interestingly, pagans in the first century pretended that Christ's followers were Atheists(!) because the Christians had a somewhat different idea from the pagans about the nature of God.
Jehovah's Witnesses teach that no salvation occurs without Christ, that accepting Christ's sacrifice is a requirement for true worship, that every prayer must acknowledge Christ, that Christ is the King of God's Kingdom, that Christ is the head of the Christian congregation, that Christ is immortal and above every creature, even that Christ was the 'master worker' in creating the universe! Both secular dictionaries and disinterested theologians acknowledge that Jehovah's Witnesses are a Christian religion.
The Trinitarian arguments are intended to insult and demean Jehovah's Witnesses, rather than to give a Scripturally accurate understanding of the term "Christian".
In fact, the bible most closely associates being "Christian" with preaching about Christ and Christ's teachings. Review all the times the bible uses the term "Christian" and note that the context connects the term with:
"declaring the good news"
'teaching quite a crowd'
'open eyes, turn from dark to light'
"uttering sayings of truth"
"persuade"
"keep on glorifying"
(Acts 11:20-26) [The early disciples of Jesus] began talking to the Greek-speaking people, declaring the good news of the Lord Jesus... and taught quite a crowd, and it was first in Antioch that the disciples were by divine providence called Christians.
(Acts 26:17-28) [Jesus said to Paul] I am sending you, to open their eyes, to turn them from darkness to light and from the authority of Satan to God... Paul said: “I am not going mad, Your Excellency Festus, but I am uttering sayings of truth and of soundness of mind. ...Do you, King Agrippa, believe the Prophets? I know you believe.” But Agrippa said to Paul: “In a short time you would persuade me to become a Christian.”
(1 Peter 4:14-16) If you are being reproached for the name of Christ, you are happy... But if he suffers as a Christian, let him not feel shame, but let him keep on glorifying God in this name
So why do anti-Witnesses try to hijack the term "Christian" and hide its Scriptural implications? Because anti-Witnesses recognize that it is the preaching work that makes it clear that the relatively small religion of Jehovah's Witnesses are by far the most prominent followers of Christ:
(Matthew 28:19,20) Go therefore and make disciples of people of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the holy spirit, teaching them to observe all the things I have commanded

I've seen some Christian encyclopedias which call them (along with Mormons) 'marginally Christian.'
To many people, the term Christian means different things. David Lee Roth once said he was a Christian because he opened doors for old ladies. It's sometimes a matter of perspective. If you are evangelical, you would probably say they are not because they deny the deity of Christ. But Catholics once said Protestants were not Christians. Many Protestants have said Catholics are not Christians.
We all answer to God, regardless of what we believe.

I am an Ex JW with 15 years in the cult now deprogrammed
The doctrine is a twisted fabric of half truths and and total misconceptions.
They preach openly hatred toward other religions.
Turn a blind eye to spousal abuse toward women.
turn a blind eye to child abuse teaching openly spare the rod spoil the child.
They teach hatred toward those who do not believe what they do and that god will rain horror to the other 6.2 billion people on earth and that is is gods will they all should die. they teach only a select group of them 144,000 the anointed ones will be welcome into heaven and these people are chosen in Brooklyn
the rest of them will be left on earth to clean up the mess of 6+ billion lost lives and all the dead no matter how evil in life will be brought back given a second chance and judged over 1000 years. (yes even Hitler, Stalin, Genghis Khan, Mao tsa Tung, Pol Pot you name it) Those left over in paradise will live forever.
Christ was never nailed to a cross (even though this is historical FACT) in the new paradise even the animals will be harmless vegans.
Grapes will grow as big as basket balls, and only the righteous (them) will be left over.
But to learn the real truth about what they are really like look at the web sites run by ex JW's

JW?
God? He or She?
Church? Christianity? Jesus? Dying?
What is the Imacculate Conception supposed to mean?
(NOT A VIRGIN BIRTH! - Google Imacculate Conception. What else do you falsely believe? )
Jesus, the basis of Christianity? .
If Jesus died, he could NOT have been God.
Gods do not die? Do they?
If Jesus 'died' on Friday and 'undied' on Sunday, what else besides Saturday was sacrificed?
Did Jesus give up Saturday for us? Big deal!
If Jesus died for our sins, there should not be any more sins, else why go through with it?.
If Jesus really DIED, he should be dead, dead, dead!
Life after death is like virginity after childbirth.
If the flesh of Jesus died, what was seen walking and talking on Sunday?
If you swallow this stuff, you are not going to like the folks who don't. You want them to swallow it too.
Christians want everyone to convert to their non-thinking in order to be 'saved'.
Believing and not thinking is like choosing a mental illness and becoming truly lost.

so you define a Christian as someone who believes Jesus is God?
at this point I wonder, how come all the persons that believe Jesus is God slaughter each other so freely( like WW1,WW2,) all with their religious leader's prayers and blessings?
Did not Jesus say you will recognize my followers by this fact that they have love among them?

It is not for us to judge who is and isn't saved. Only God can decide that because only He knows our hearts. Worry more about your own salvation. "Judge not, lest ye be judged" Show them love and pray for them, that is the best thing we can do. You don't have to show them the error of their ways, you just have to pray to God that they will come to know Him. Arguments just escalate and allow the enemy to take a hold of us. Be peaceful and kind, be a good witness to them.
