Some dogs are just attracted to balls of any type. I have had this happen to me twice on a golf course. They also go after tennis balls a lot, anything they can easily pick up in their mouths.

there is a dog in kiawah island who just smells the balata/urethane. unbelievable, huh? the dog finds 20 in an hour in places we could never see them. but for fetching after you hit them, i've seen plenty do that. not cutting them up, afterwards is the trick.

He will chase it!
