I think you are talking about new age, and I think you are referring to the concept of the god within. I would say most neo-Pagans believe in drawing down deity within during rituals. It has nothing to do with believing one's self to be God, it is about allowing deity to join with you and speaking through you. Although I'm Pagan, I don't do this. I have a hard enough time being me, I don't think I can handle the power of a god. Search "Drawing Down the Moon."

I am not sure of the name New Era, however, it is kind of humorous to think that this was the line that the serpent used on Eve..."And ye shall be as gods."(Gen. 3:5) this would make this religion to really be the Old Era - recycled.

I don't see it as a religion, is more a way of life, you have to believe that you have something great inside you and that a God or a Goddess lives inside you.

thinking you're a god yourself is just as valid as believing in a non-existent, all-knowing and all-seeing (but doing nothing) god conceived by superstitious, ignorant know-nothings thousands of years ago...
In other words, they're all wrong :)
