Up until 3 months ago I had dyed black hair. I decided I wanted change so I bleached it. The result; medium brown hair and blonde roots. I darkened the roots to match the rest. Two times since then I have dyed my hair, red and then blonde to try and lighten it. I've dyed my hair a lot, I know. My hair is a medium brown with a hint of red, and I want it to be red like; http://www.suprmchaos.com/shirley-manson2_062605.jpg.

Now to get this, without going to a salon... What would I have to do? I was thinking of bleaching it again, then dying it red. Or is there a basic hair dye I could get at a place such as walgreens that is red enough too get it there without bleaching. If so what brand and number? I honestly don't have the fear of damaging me hair because I know i'll most likely do this. I just want to have fun, and try something new. So please don't lecture me!

i have colored my hair both of these colors at one point of another. The first link comes out a bit more orangey, and the second was like a vibrant blood color. L'Oreal Feria is one of my fave drug store brands because it really does shimmer and give amazing highlights.

(my descriptions of results were achieved without bleaching, and yes, the colors really are as intense as the pictures)

Good luck and you might want to try that wig Mary J used to wear, Red Hot Mary, because that is waht you are going to need after your hair washes down the sink from all of that bleach. Where is your mother!!!??? LOL Seriously though, you are in for a disaster so please use lots of conditioner. And for hair loss, which you will have try Alphogee reconstructive treatment. It smells like rotten eggs, you find it at Sally's. They sell individual packets, but you need the big bottle for what you are about to get into. It will help your hair start growing back after you break it all off. Why don't you just get a gel wrap and but some 12" red hair???

I have seen at a few beauty supply places a red dye exactly like the one pictured. You can go and ask their opinion. I was told when I inquired that the best thing to do would be to bleach the hair, then add the color.

you need to get one of those intense colours on a shade numer 5 or 6 that will do the job do your roots last though other wise they will go bright ginger!!!Don't put any more bleach on your hair though or it will probably all snap off. When you dye your hair wash it 24 hours before at least to remove all the build up

Good luck hope that helped

OK so if your hair is lighter or close to hers you can go to a beauty supply and ask for their intense red series, loreal makes them i think. and walgreens may carry one called Feria, the color is usually pretty intense. and you will get a close look to the picture. if your hair is a lot darker, you will need to get a color remover, you can sometimes get them at the store but i like the ones you can get at Sally's for the same price. follow the directions on the color remover then you can apply the red.
using a color remover on your hair is a lot better than straight bleach....fyi....

you may now no longer try this. Hair is impervious to optimum liquids. It fairly absorbs nutrition efficient to it. nutrition coloring is basically too liquid and very washable and has no dietary fee in any savour. The hair won't take in the coloring and no count if it did, it ought to come off as quickly as you stroll into rain or take a shower.

To get it that red you are going to have to bleach it.

you have to be careful, bleaching then adding red will make it fade to pink.....if you are going to bleach, you have to put a toner on it so that the toner will grab the red and keep it red.
