I dont know why these people are in the smoking section of a restaurant to begin with.
Know the saying "If you cant take the heat, stay out of the kitchen"? Well if you dont like the smoke stay in the non smoking section.

Most restaurants have smoking sections designed for smokers and non-smoking sections for non-smokers. How is it rude when it is a designated area. If the restaurant does not offer separate sections then that is the restaurants fault, but since smoking is offered they have every right to do so just like you have the right not too, restaurants need to take into consideration that they will get patrons of the smoking and non-smoking and have separate areas for those situations. So no one is considered Rude. In alot of Cities Arlington TX for one you can not smoke at all in restaurants, stores ext.... I am a smoker and this does not bother me because I can wait to smoke until I go outside no biggie. More states need to incorporate this Law because I being a smoker still believe that it is healthier for the non-smokers and children not to be exposed to second hand smoke.... I am glad you don't start foreign fires.

Untill they totally ban smoking in "all" closed in areas I will continue to smoke. If you don't like it then don't go into those establishments, I'm sure if it hurts their business that badly they will change thier policies. Untill then don't tell me that I'm such and evil person because I choose to smoke. I don't try to tell you what kind of car to drive or not to wear your perfume/cologne just because I don't like it! Its a free country, I make my own choices, business owners have the same right. If they choose to make their own property smoke free thats up to them. I can guarantee you though that would not stop me from going there if I really liked their establishment, even if I couldn't smoke.

I am a smoker, but I totally agree with you. I don't smoke around my kids ( in the house, the car, etc), because I don't feel like they should be subjected to second-hand smoke just because I choose to "pollute" my own lungs. Furthermore, I don't take my kids into places where smoking is allowed. Even being a smoker myself, I feel that surely someone can sit through a meal and wait until they get outside to have a cigarette.

OK it's like this...If you don't like to look at heavy people half naked, don't go to a public beach. If you don't want to eat around cig smoke, then eat at home or find a restaurant that doesn't allow smoking. I don't like to watch people chew with their mouths open, but it's inevitable when I am eating in public. Do something to help raise awareness of the effects of second hand smoke, picket the restaurant, anything but sit back & complain.
OR
If you can't beat 'em join 'em!

It is rude to subject anyone to breathe in such a foul odor against their will. For some, like myself, cigarette smoke can cause allergies. Unless there is a designated place to smoke with proper ventilation, it is inconsiderate and rude.

Where I'm from, smoking is practically prohibited everywhere (bars, beaches, restaurants). I just heard on the news that some people want to ban smoking at an outdoor plaza. Who knows? Maybe it'll become illegal to smoke in your own house.

I am a smoker and yes I do feel that it is rude to smoke around others who don't, but in a restuarant I do think it is fair to have smoking section or room, or maybe even a bar. for anyone to say that we should not be allowed to smoke is somewhat of a prejudice person who discriminates against my lifestyle.

They don't feel they are causing a problem, go mention it to them. There's more methods, some are not polite, but most of the time, telling them not to smoke works.....I've taken a smoke out of someone's hand, and dunked it in their water before.
There's also shooting them with a fire extingusher, and claiming, oh, i'm sorry...I thought you were on fire....

Because they are addicted and don't want anything to stand in the way of their next hit. If you're a smoker and you do think it's rude, we're obviously not talking about you.
