Because I am currently paying off an overdue account and that's what it says there....

You've been late paying your account. Any late payments reported to the agencies will show up as "derogatory". They don't have to have gone to collection, but anything that has gone to collection will be even MORE derogatory. Just make sure you make your payments on time from now on.

If it was a "one-time thing", you might be able to contact the creditor and beg them to take the black mark off your credit report... Might work, can't hurt to try.

It means there is something negative on that account. Typically you've missed payments or gone over your limit.

The best you can do to help your credit is to pay your bills on time.

'derogoratory' means: negative information aka it looks bad. Examples include accounts turned over to collection agencies or with late payments.
