As a fellow pagan/wiccan, I feel your irritation. My In-laws are staunch Christians (my older brother in law is in seminary!) and they are constantly, though gently, pressing the issue. Christians believe two things that drive them to save you:

1- That we are all sinners in need of redemption before God
2- That the only way to receive that redemption is through the belief that Jesus was God's son, sent here to offer himself as a blood sacrifice to atone for the sins of all humanity.

That being said, it is therefore a dogged, though (many believe) misguided necessity of their faith to retrieve your soul from eternal punishment, that makes Christians constantly press you to become a Christian yourself. Instead of allowing it to get under your skin, consider it a touching gesture of love. When this conversation starts up, just thank your attackers for their concern. After all, it's one thing for someone to try to save your life. It's a whole new level of concern for someone to try to save your life after death.

What is the acceptance and respect you seek? I accept you as a valuable human. I respect you as intelligent. I believe you have a lot to offer in this world. But it doesn't change the truth. There's no "your truth" and "my truth." There's just truth, and if you don't accept it, that's fine. I'm not mad at you. I'm not rejecting you.

It seems like what you are seeking is for Christians to tell you your religion will get you heaven (or whatever afterlife you'd like), and I can't do that. Jesus said "I am the way..." (you know the rest) and to tell you you're spiritually OK would be to deny the very Christ I profess. It's logically impossible. Comfort I cannot give you. Respect I can.

As a Christian, I think it is hard to accept that someone doesn't believe.

For example, my thinking is that everyone is born knowing God but we grow up in the mortal world and get 'distracted'. Now, this is contradictory to your beliefs and in no way am I trying to be offensive. I suppose it is like sandpaper, because I really WANT you to see what I see, but I know that is something you have to decide for yourself.

Some call Christians "blinded", but I entirely disagree. Perhaps you could empathize for the way you feel about your deities.

One thing is certain, I do not hate you. I'm human and get upset when people fling out hurtful comments, but I still love mankind. That will never stop.

So in a nutshell, why? Because Christians are humans and humans are imperfect.

Well, I'm sorry you've had bad experiences with Christians, but you NEED SALVA...Ooops...Kidding. Look, the truth is that we believe that we are told to spread the good news, and unfortunately many of us think that means to beat you with a Bible until you see things our way. Truly living in accordance with our beliefs is often the best witness one can give, but some still want to force others to see it our way. For them I apologize.

Well said sir. And I know exactly what you mean. I spent a lot of last semester going back and forth with a christian fanatic...no matter what I said he always had to say that his bible said he was right or crap like that...it was very annoying. Thick headed people? Yeah I'm sure many of them are...they should be more accepting.

It's not difficult to accept you don't believe. There are many who don't believe...that's one's choice.

i can ask another question back to you:
*Why is it so difficult for you to accept that someone is concerned about your Spiritual welfare? Why do you find it so difficult to understand/accept that in our minds, SATAN has got you blinded?

You have your "religion" i have my faith.

You're entitled to your opinion, just as i am entitled to mine. Why are you asking such questions in an OPEN FORUM for religion? What else would you expect?

...the Christians will attempt to convert others to Christianity.
...the Pagans will attempt to persuade others that their beliefs are right.
...the Jehovah Witnesses will try and convince you they're right...

Meanwhile: God is right. Humanity is wrong.

God Bless. (I'm a Christian, btw)

If you believed your truth was absolute truth, how come you are not shouting it from the roof tops and sharing it with every one you meet?

If someone's house was on fire, would be you be afraid of knocking on the door to tell them for fear of offending them? No, you would burst in and yell, "fire!" Why? Because you care.

Christians share because it is absolute truth, and they care that "none should perish." We don't need you to join our club to affirm ourselves, we care for a lost world headed for hell. There is good news, God sent Christ to make a way.

I can but I'm not Christian. How do you expect the majority of them to do that or even understand what you're asking when their religious leaders tell them (practically drill into them) that anyone who is not like them is evil? Wouldn't that require them to actually filter out the information that is clearly incorrect? That is very difficult for some people.

Ezekiel 3:19-20 Yet if thou warn the wicked, and he turn not from his wickedness, nor from his wicked way, he shall die in his iniquity; but thou hast delivered thy soul. Again, When a righteous man doth turn from his righteousness, and commit iniquity, and I lay a stumbling-block before him, he shall die: because thou hast not given him warning, he shall die in his sin, and his righteousness which he hath done shall not be remembered; but his blood will I require at thine hand.

James 5:20 Let him know, that he which converteth the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death, and shall hide a multitude of sins.

There is only ONE truth....

John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

If you truly believed in your own goddess and god you probably wouldn't need the acceptance of a christian, your goddess and god's acceptance should be sufficient.
