Why follow a man made institution when you can simply talk to God on your own? I talk to God all the time, look how good the country is doing.

MsNo-It-All: First, I believe you can have faith without religion at all. Just look at some of these brilliant answers. And second, if you "know it all," how come you don't know how to spell "know" properly? I suggest YOU change your name. Maybe to "Ms.Know It? No!"

PS - I think your mind uses the idea that "Faith and Religion go hand in hand" as a crutch. This type of thinking allows the man-ruled church to control the masses. Which, you are a strong representative of.

rhsaunders: I like your answer, but since I disagree with your contention that logic is the ONLY distinction between humans and animals (depth of reflection and memory, linguistic sophistication, etc), I must discredit your point. Because one could also say that "belief" is a distinction on humanity, therefore, to not believe is evil. Chew on that, get back to me.

Shaun T: but aren't these covenants written by man's hand, merely POSING as God?
And I'll go even further and ask, isn't this an impersonation of God that leads us to false worship? Therefore resulting in a sin?

I believe that faith is better for me then religion. I am a Christian, not a Catholic or Protestant or Baptist etc. I come from a Catholic family and I participated in Catholicism for a long time. After a while I noticed that I felt as if I was being held back in my beliefs. I joined an Assembly of God church and have been much happier. In Catholic church I felt as if I was separated from God by a barrier of silence. In my new church we jump, sing, dance, shout, pray, clap.. and so much more that just makes me feel as if I were right next to God. That is the way I want to feel all the time. I recently went back and visited my old Catholic church with my family. Needless to say I felt extremely out of place. Just find what works best for you! Best of luck, and God bless!

Religion and faith are two sides of the same coin; it is idle to propose a choice between them. Faith may be defined as the belief in something, without evidence or in the face of contrary evidence. The only distinction between mankind and animals is the ability to use logic. So, faith, being the intentional abandonment of logic --of one's humanity -- is the ULTIMATE evil.

Religion is nothing without your Faith. In fact, religion is pointless if you don't have faith. Why would you go and worship God, if you don't have faith that he exists?
Luckly, I have very strong Faith, and an amazing church which i know is true with all my heart.

I agree with you; faith is better to have and religion is just a label. God's 'church' is really all believers, and we still need to support each other in our mission to better ourselves and the world, and bring others to Him. That is our ultimate mission, to return His children to Him. My husband and I have some very close friends that we have bible studies and prayer group with, and we hold each other accountable for our actions in life. We are not simply good friends, we are in kinship with one another and God. A person can go to church every sunday, every day in fact, but if they don't have faith and they haven't accepted Christ into their hearts and surrendered everything to Him, then the act of going to church is meaningless.

First of all, I suggest you change your name. Secondly, without religion how could you practice your faith. And, finally, without faith there would not be a place in your heart to practice your religion. Faith and religion go hand-in-hand.

Is better to have faith. You can't always rely on religion. There are people who don't have any religion and just believe in God and feel much better.
I am like that sometimes. I critize my own church but still believe in God.

Faith in yourself first. You read a lot about the subject of religion, come to your own conclusions and go with it. No one single religion has all the answers.
