The vast majority of modern Christians have forgotten the teachings of Jesus. They are more concerned with judging everyone else and then telling everyone else how superior they are to everyone else. Any real similarity between modern Christians and the teachings of Jesus are purely coincidental

I for one have not gotten vile or vicious with anyone. I believe in Jesus and I practice Christianity, and try to learn more of Jesus and the Bible daily. It is interesting to note that only Christians have been questioned here. I have read many that I suspect from what they write, are non-Bible believers, appear to be more vicious and vile, and disrespectful than the ones claiming to be Believers. There really is no room in rational discussions, for vile attacks. It is symptomatic of someone who is unable to hold on to a position in a discussion or make a point. They revert to low level demeaning, vicious attacks. By the way, self righteous is something everyone can fall into when they take a strong position. I'll respect your opinion even if I disagree and believe you are wrong. OK?

Are you sure they are "Christians"? Just because they claim to be doesn't make it true.
We live at a time when, as Jesus long ago foretold, love is cooling off among professed Christians around the world. (Matthew 24:12) He also said there would be those who would be " ... having a form of godly devotion but proving false to its power ..." (2 Timothy 3:5)
But Christians are commanded not only to have love for one another but to have self-sacrificing love, putting others ahead of self. We are to display this love so plainly that it is visible to all, becoming the identifying mark of the true Christian congregation.—John 13:34, 35. Christians, or footstep followers of Christ, are commanded to cultivate the fruitage of God’s holy spirit—“love, joy, peace, long-suffering, kindness, goodness, faith, mildness, self-control.” (Gal. 5:22, 23)
Speaking to his disciples in the sermon on the mount, Jesus referred to the desire of sincere men for peaceful conditions. He told of a group of faithful men and women who would promote peace on the earth during troublous times by saying: “Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.” (Matt. 5:9, Dy)
If this is not shown in the speech and attitude of some on this forum, it may be wise to question whether they are indeed “Christian” or Christ-like.

While it's TRUE that SOME Christians get out of line, with their remarks --- the majority of them don't.
...and also, What do you consider "Self-Righteous?"
Christ told us to turn the other cheek, but what about you run out of cheeks to turn? LOL....(my actual point being: Isn't there a time, when we are suppose to rebuke the ignorance/disrespect of others?)
Interesting question my friend. Don't stereotype the whole crew of us though...we're not all "piranhas" ...lol
God Bless.

That is like asking why we have religious wars. It is the belief that "I can only get to heaven if I get as many people to join me there as possible." religion is important to many people... just like freedom of religion is important to others. There is nothing wrong with people being really self-righteous on a website... the problem is when we start to throw stones at each other.
An argument can not be won by quoting scripture, just like an argument can not be won by saying "I am correct."

Why is it that I always miss these "vicious" Christian questions/ answers. I almost never see those and the majority of the time, those questions aren't started by Christians.

That is an excellent question! Think of all the wars that have been fought in the name of Christianity. Think of the nations today claiming to be Christian but still fighting and killing their fellow human beings. In the bible Jesus did not promote these kind of actions at all. Kinda makes you wonder about a lot of people who claim they are Christ's follower's doesn't it? Jesus said there would be many that would claim to be sent by him but by their actions you would be able to tell that they are a fraud. His true followers he said you would be able to recognize by the love they have amongst themselves.

Read their book. You'll understand why pretty quick.
The "love your neighbor" stuff is far and few between. Most Christians prefer (and follow) the vitrolic stuff of Paul and the OT.

Good Question.
It's also funny to read vicious Christian answers and then read responses to your question (i.e. "It's not the Christians who get vicious") Good stuff . . . have it both ways, why don't you.
