i think i can understand it if someone puts it in other words. "mother kite once sent her daughter to bring food. She went, and brought back a duckling. 'you have done very well,' said mother kite to her duckling, ' but tell me, what did the mother of this duckling say when you swooped and carried its child away?' 'It said nothing, 'replied the young kite. 'It just walked away.' 'You must return the duckling, 'said mother kite. 'There is something ominous behingthe silence.' And so daughter kite returned the duckling and took a chick instead.'what did the moher of this chick do?' asked the old kite. 'it cried and raved and cursed me,'said the young kite. ' then we can eat the chick, ' said her mother. 'there is nothing to fear from someone who shouts.'

When the mother kite says you have done very well the first time, she is supposed to have said it to the daughter, not the ducking. It goes back to the old saying of you always have to watch out for the shy, quiet ones. They are likely thinking of revenge (or their mother and/or leader is). The person (chick) is yelling and screaming on its own and thus has nobody to protect it or stand up for it.

The only word I would change is the term Kite to one like Hawk or Eagle because most of the people in this world think a Kite is a paper toy flown by children and not a soaring bird of prey that attacks with a swoop and carries off its victim.

Bark is louder that it's bite is the first thing that comes to mind.

But that is not exactly correct. Maybe a better analysis is that if the Mother duck cursed and raved, she is harmless... goes back to the first thought, a barking dog does not bite.

I'm curious to what is really meant by the story.

It means that the loud yelling mom JUST yells. The duck ws quietly thinking of how to get her baby back. There is an old saying of" beware of the quiet ones!" You just never know what they may do!

you'll learn much more if you do it yourself. Just take the time to figure out what the main point of the story is, and then write that down.
