Genital herpes can re-occur at any time during your life and when it does from here on end, you won't be able to have sex, because the rash will be very gross for a few days up to a week at a time.

You can still meet and be in love with someone and have sex and all with that person, but remember to inform them when the herpes comes back. It only lasts for a few days, up to a few weeks at a time.

Perfectly normal. Not too worry. It's only human nature with that disease.

Honey, sit down with Grandpa and take a deep breath. Now, you will need to be honest with any potential partner. The good news is, if you consult with your physician, there are ways to minimize his chances of contracting herpes from you. And - you CAN have children despite having herpes. Again, talk to your physician. It is too bad that you were so unfortunate as to contract this condition, but it is not the end of the world. Hey, you're worth loving. Take pride in who you are and don't dwell on the past...just deal with it responsibly and in all liklihood, you'll have a great future - and it need not be a lonely one!

I believe there is.
You have to be honest with any sexual partner you may have from this point forward. It would be unfair for you to have sex with someone without letting them know about the herpes first. They have to be able to make the choice of whether they want to be sexual with you.

Besides, love isn't about sex. True love is about much more than sex because sex may not always be an option and you have to have something other than sex to keep you together. You can have intimacy without sex.

Don't tell everyone you meet about it, because it's none of their business. Do inform any sexual partners though, because it's their right to know.
If they choose not to have sex with you, don't be embarrassed.

DO always use protection. DO learn from your mistakes. DO go see a Doctor, there are new treatments for herpes that can help you live a more normal life. DO NOT give up on life, this isn't a death sentence.

Hi Rabbit,

Yes. My brother-in-law has had herpes for a long time and he's been with the same woman for over 15 years, and the woman has never contracted it.

There are support groups that you can go to. That sounds like a great place to meet people that understand where you're coming from, and you might even meet people there.

Take care of yourself.

Yes, once you find that special someone, he wont even care that you have it. He will look past the flaws. You could possibly find someone who has it too, and then you have less of a worry. Just be careful and dont spread it, use your mind wisely and you will see how much love you can truely recieve.
