If a person suffered from obsessive complusive disorder and they had to call a police information desk 12 times in a row from their home phone, then the next day do the same thing 12 times in a row each time asking a real legit question, also they are asking this question 12 times in a row to the same phone operator. Do you think this would be considered phone harrassment and would the person who called the police station 24 times in 2 days be arrested?

If they have legal documents stating that they have this medical disorder than they should get off easy. They should also seek help to help the case.

Hmmm. Probably not arrested in the sense of being taken to jail, but an officer may be sent to her home to further evaluate the person's condition. If they fall within the description of someone not able to properly care for themselves or others (if others are there) or are a danger to themselves or others (and this might be argueable if she's tying up emergency access lines) then she may be compelled to go to a mental health facility for (up to) 72 hours, for examination. There are alot of potential options that don't involve an arrest, and if the personally has a true mental disability, then the police will most likely seek one of the other choices.

It shouldn't be, if everybody know's what's going on and is understanding bout' it. Then again, that person is interfering with Official Police Business, but no arrest should be made, the Police chould come and get that person and take them to Mental Health Facilities to help him. That's what the Police are for isn't it? To Protect us and Help us?

They would probably be warned first, then arrested for harrassment.

If their behavioral disorder came up during the hearing, they would probably be forced to enter court-ordered counseling in lieu of punishment..

Might contact your local social services department. This person might be in need of help with a mental disorder. Good luck!

I would expect that that telephone is needed for VERY IMPORTANT calls................the repeat caller should be getting help elsewhere.

Not arrested-- but HELPED!
