much info including professional interview on the history channel...
state that in many early bibles, hell was never mentioned in them, along with never mentioning the devil. so wouldn't you believe those bibles more than bibles after them? wouldn't that prove that not everything in the bible is worth believing? and why would you believe in something that is proven to be written numerous times

these are the word that hell replaced:
Sheol has now been translated as the grave
The word ‘hell’ comes from the word ‘Hades’ which means ‘the abode of the dead’ or the grave
The word Gehenna is also translated into hell. Gehenna was a valley of Hinnon just south of Jerusalem. This was a wasteland where animal corpses were dumped and burned.
The last word for hell is Tartaroo (or Tartarus). This means the deepest abyss of Hades. This is where the Greeks believed the wicked dead were cast when they died

I believe hell is the grave. I personally own many antique Bibles. 1599 Geneva, 1385 Wycliffe, etc. and where hell is found today, the words then were grave or pit. Hades and Sheol were the original words used. Gehenna can be found in the NT and it is a place on the map, it is the Valley of Hinnom. The words were changed to hell in the late 1500,s and especially the 1611 KJV that started the trend. In that time era in England which is where most Bibles were printed (Geneva was in Switzerland) the word hell meant to put in the ground. So back then they accepted that when they read the word hell that it meant to be buried. It was the catholic church that started the fearful idea of a burning place of torment.

The devil was however mentioned in Job, which is believed to be the oldest book in the Bible. The jewish Pentatuech which is the first five books of the Bible do not mention the devil and that is where the idea you mention comes from. The book of Genesis however does mention the serpent and Christianity teaches that the devil and the serpent are one in the same. This cannot be proven however and when you search out many other writings of Jewish nature or medivial books you will find varying assumptions as to who the serpent is.

I do not believe that the Bible is perfect and I rely on older scriptures for I feel todays bibles are junk for the most part. I feel that the Bible is a great history book. I feel that we need to put our faith in God and Him alone not any book. Knowing God, YHWH, is an incredible life long experiance but knowing religion and the Bible are just teachings of men. If interseted I have a lot of info put together on the topic of hell that i could provide for free to you by mail or e-mail if interested you can contact me through my below site.

Just to let you know, I am a believer in YHWH and Yeshua.

It's interresting how people will consider non-religious sources such as the History Channel an expert on religious topics, and ignore the pastors and religious leaders who have studied such things their entire lives.

The modern bible wasn't written all at once. It is a compilation of 66 books which chronicle 1500 of years of history. The "early bibles" that you heard about were sections of the bible that were not all-inclusive. You won't find mention of hell or the devil in every single book of the modern bible.

Please don't take stock in most of what you hear on the history channel when they talk about religion. Most of those theologions they interview are so far out in left field what they say is crazy.

God's word was written under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. It was written in the greek, hebrew and aramaic languages. Since i can't read any of these languages I am proud someone translated them for me. You should know the history of how many men and women died so that we could have God's word in our own languages. YOu know the history of men and women who have died translating the Bible in languages for tribes and other nations. You should know the history of how many peopel have died because they possessed 1 page of the Bible. The history channel does not always tell the whole story.

What "bibles" are you referring to? And you believe everything these wackos say on a history channel just because it's on television? Be more specific in giving examples and maybe I can answer your question. And why do I believe in the Bible? Because it was written by people inspired by God. Quit being vague in your questions and you'll get a better answer.

And, btw: hell is very real.

There's only one Bible. The Word of God. And the Bible says that there is only one way to not go to hell is to believe in Jesus the Son of God. You have to confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead to be saved.

Hell is used to strike fear in the hearts of the practioners so that they will be forced into religious submission. Love should be the emphasis.

Because society needed to make rules for "bad people" to stop doing what they were doing. The government needs to create fear and fearful people are followers.

see, because christianity is a very big-headed religion. christians create things to scare people from liking and believing other religions.

Us smarter people, realized those christians are dumb, and didn't want to follow in their brainwashing acts.

So, we took our own way, and christians continued to make up stories like "the devil" and "satan" and "hell"

and then...they say that we belong to it, because we didn't follow what they tried to brainwash us into in the first place.

Get it?

:)
