request a transcript of your account from the irs. it will show the most recent return. you can get the form from www.irs.gov

Call the tax office of the state/county you filed it with. If your tax return was ammended, you usually receive a cover letter with the name of a contact person handling your case. Call the number and ask the question. If it's an automatic deposit, check your account for activity. Good luck!

If it is the state tax return, then call the treasury of your state. Look in the telephone book under government. And if it is federal tax return, then call the IRS.
