Babies' brain development is helped by visual stimulation in the early weeks. Because they can not distinguish colour until later on, the best stimulation is by bold contrasts, particularly black and white, then bright primary colours. There are loads of good mobiles to hang above, and bumpers to go around, cots and you can then extend that scheme to the walls. Wishy washy pastels, whilst looking very tasteful, are very boring for babies.

Why not have a go at a simple mural, like a rainbow with a big smiley sun , and some bright posters which you can change regulary.

Good luck

Yvonne

Mamas and Papas do gorgeous coordinating nursery stuff, Verbaudet and kiddicare.com. We bought the big jungle stickers for our babies room from kiddicare.

now that sounds like a proper oxymoron. Decorating Emergency.
Who cares what the room looks like, the kid sure won't.

Have a go yourself - unless you are really good at it. My first attempt would have encouraged children to try! Think about the things they notice and make something out of those ideas.
