Poor wee hting...they are just great wee dogs....just play with her and love her....make sure she is really secured when you go back to school or she will take off, they are notorious for taking off when unattended and need constant company as they are a working/pack dog and hate being bored and alone.

Talk with your dad and explain that it is really hot out for the dog. If that doesn't work the best thing to do is make sure the dog has plenty of fresh water in a bowl that doesn't turn over, try burying it down in the ground, that way the dog can not tip the bowl. Make sure your dog is in the shadest part of your yard. Also while you are in school ask a neighbor to stop by and check on the dog. You could also buy a small childrens pool and fill it with water, that way the dog can jump in to cool off.
The dog should be fine. Sounds like you really care for your dog, hats off to you for being a responsible dog owner!!!!!

I have three Jacks, and some days it's a chore getting them to come in at all. It all depends on your dog's personal preferences - does she like it outside? Or is she more of a couch potato (of course, being a Jack, it's unlikely that she's a spud)?
If dad's adamant about not letting the dog in (again, she being a Jack, I can sympathize with why he might not want to), then make sure whe has shady places, lots of water, and - most importantly - a securely fenced area to stay in. Keeping her on a leash is out of the question - Jack are accomplished escape artists, and it'll only be a matter of time before she figures out how to slip a leash.

try to tell your dad that animals need to be cool as much as people do, but if he insists that the dog not come in, make sure she has plenty of cool, clean water to drink, food and somewhere that is shaded in the yard for her to lay in. see about some kind of swimming pool or something that can be used as one....most dogs will lay down in one to cool off. when you go back to school, she will be fine, just make sure she gets water and food before you leave, when you get home and at night....be sure to spend time with her as much as you can. the dog will be ok....the reason dogs pant is to cool themselves.

make sure she has lots of shade and water. and maybe remind your dad that she is your responsability and if she stays out side in the heat she can die. and then HE could get hit with big animal neglect charges. or if all else fails ask a friend or neibor to help and explain the situation.

The dog needs a better home. take it to a shelter and explain the situation and they can find a good home for the dog. Then hope you parents do not get anymore pets.

Find a home for the dog with someone who is able to take care of it properly, instead of relegating it to the status of Lawn Ornament.
The dog should not have to suffer because of your family situation.

If your dad is that cruel, maybe the best thing you can do for your dog is to give her up. I'm sure it will break your heart, but you have to do what's best for the dog. Sorry
