Any memorable stories?

My advice is to chose something special to you, like the first place you kissed or where your first date was, and spend some time there. Depending on if your girl would love everyone involved, or kill you if you proposed in public (think-- how she react to a surprise party), either propose in a quiet romantic spot there, or come back to a party of all of her family and friends and do it there.

Good Luck!

What makes it memorable is that it's personal, so what would work for 1 couple would be totally meaningless for another. The only decent idea I can come up with is to take her where you guys went on your first date together, and ask her there. Many restaurants will do something special for you, if you let them know in advance that you'll be doing this. You could even have the ring be brought out with the dinner, or with a drink--have it put on a skewer between 2 pieces of fruit. Good luck!

I don't know if this is your style or not but here's an idea

Make her dinner, or take her to dinner somewhere nice. Pull out all the stops.. candlelight, good china, soft music etc. Slide the ring on one of the pieces of silveware, (if the sizing is right you might be able to slide it around 2 or 3 tines of the fork.) Wrap up the silverwear in a cloth napkin like they do in resturants (or you can have the resturant do this). Then act like you just wanted to do something sweet by making her dinner (or taking her out) Let her find it on her own.

Another idea would be to pack a picnic lunch. Lay out the blanket and have the ring stiched to a corner. Make sure that you're the one lay out the blanket. Act natural. When lunch is over have her help you fold up the blanket, make sure she gets the corner with the ring sewn to it.

If she wears shoes with laces and you're there when she gets around for work tie the ring to the end of the shoelace and tuck the shoelaces down in the shoes.

If you're out-doorsy types take her fishing! Hide the ring in your tackle box. When she complains about not catching anything (or when you notice that shes not getting anything) tell her that you have something in your box that might help. Have her give you her rod and take off whatever bait she is using and tie the ring to the line. Just make sure that you don't let her cast it out! (maybe hold it up and make a comment about how that should reel in something)

I was told one recently: A friend of a friend did this - his girlfriend was flying from the midwest to the east to see him. He got her flight itinerary from her family and laid an elaborate plot to propose to her. He sent a CD and the ring to her parents and her parents gave the CD and the ring to one of the flight attendants and asked the attendant to give it to the girlfriend halfway thru the flight. (They made sure that the girlfriend had her laptop with her.) The attendant approached the girlfriend and said that she had a message from the boyfriend. They loaded the CD into the laptop and a slide show of all of the boyfriend's feelings for her popped up along with pictures and stories of their courtship. Then the last slide was the question, "Will you share the rest of your life with me?" At this point the attendant gave her the ring. When the girlfriend got off the plane at her layover point, her boyfriend was there next to the door. She said yes.

Go to Vegas. Get reservations at the Eiffel Tower restaurant, it's fancy and a little expensive. Call them ahead and tell them you want a dessert to put the ring on (they did this for my brother, just last week.) They made a beautiful little three tiered cake with the ring on top covered by cake lace. He asked her to marry him in the eiffel tower overlooking the Bellagio fountains. How romantic.

I proposed to my soon to be husband (9-2-06) in the Newspaper Valentine's Day. I had to be at work at 4 A.M. so I bought a GIANT Card and I opened up the newspaper to that page and put the ring and that on the couch so when he came upstairs to our living room he would find it. The funny thing is he was going to proposed to me that same night when we went out to eat. Also we both had our rings hidding in the same drawer and neither one of us realized it!!

I had to buy my own wedding rings when I got married, so the fact that you bought your girl one is impressive enough. My ex proposed to me after an argument. See how lucky I was. I'm divorcing him now so all is good. I would say to have her wake up with the ring on her finger after she falls asleep. Casually follow her around the house until she notices it. Then pop the question. I think that's romantic. Best of wishes.

A friend of mine is a performer, when he proposed he did so as part of an impromptu show he gave his friends and family. He then sang a special song just for her and then asked her to marry him. Of course she said yes. My husband and I were driving around Amish country in Ohio, we had just been at a wedding up there for a member of his family. When questioned about the seriousness of the relationship he said yes it was very serious, that there might be news later. We stopped and were looking at a barn building and he said that he was serious and wanted to continue being with me forever would I marry him.

Hot air balloon! take her in one, but before you go flying, have them take pictures of you in the balloon, and the basket will say, "Will you marry me?" the you can do two things: (1) take the picture with you up on the balloon and show her it or (2) talk to her about how much you love her and how you're excited to see what the future holds for you two, then when you land, have one of the people who work there give you the developed picture. I hope that all makes sense, my best friends was asked this way and she LOVES the memory!

GOOD LUCK!!
