White wine goes better with seafood and white meats - try something nice and crisp. If you want to make it really special then serve a separate dessert wine with your mousse. Dessert wines are quite a lot sweeter and so go much better with sweeter courses.

Certainly, you can go for wine with that lot. Actually, red or white would go well. Go for something a little more expensive than the bargain bucket stuff. However, it doesn't need a strong taste (steer clear of any red that is 'oaked'), you don't want to conflict too much with the chicken. If you are at a complete loss as to what to buy, go somewhere like Waitrose and speak to the Wines / spirits manager (if they have one). Explain what you are looking for and they should be able to help you with something special.

How abourt mango juice.....it goes with the prawn toast, the tandoori chicken and also the chocolate mouse. As this is almost Indian and mangoes grown in India it would be ideal. Serve the juice ice cold and make it sweet.

A really nice chilled beer would be better.......... Goes well with the prawns and the chicken. If you want to be posh you could also get a dessert wine to go with the chocolate mousse.

I think something that goes with wine would be nice. Fish? Its not too filling, so you wouldn't be all blah all night. Definitely some chocolate dessert. Try the Food Networks homepage. It will help with recipes that mix and match with anything. The wine will loosen the both of you and/or kick start things.

Have wine & beer available then let him pick. He can open the wine/beer and pour glasses for the two of you. In this manner he too has taken part (in a small yet symbolic way) in putting together the meal.

Personally, I think wine is the more romantic or classy option yet beer can be more informal, relaxing and fun. Depends upon the mood you two are shooting for.
