By most of us thinking we are victims, and needing some kind of hand out, It seems we are spiritually lower evolved. Does victimization carry over after death. Would I have an empty palette to create upon but seem like hell to me because I believed I coudln't change it? What do you think of my name? Uncle Tom, anyone?

More than one question here
1-People who feel they are always victims and always want a hand out, would still feel like they were victims of something no matter how good they had it (race doesn't have a thing to do with it unless it's racing to the 'handout' line). Example: my ex thought the world owed him something and still to this day gets 'handouts' from the government even though I'm the one who raised and supported the kids all these years. Another example: A woman kept telling me that her children were so hungry and they had no food, so, out of the kindness of my heart I bought her some food, took it to her house, she told me to just put it in the ice box, and the icebox was so full I couldn't get anything in there - she had more than I did

question 2 - does victimization carry over into death? Only if there is something after death, and you did not stop thinking of yourself as a victim by the time you die - so yeah you'd think heaven was hell if you could not see the good things you have

3 - what do I think of your name? Well I guess it's better than bubonic plague

4- Am "I" ashamed of your race? People are ashamed of themselves, their kids, their parents and their families, not others.Your race has nothing to do with your heart, if you are a good and decent person I would never be ashamed to call you friend

Note to self: Why do they call it 'race' is it running somewhere?

Why would I be ashamed of YOUR race? And why do you think that dark-skinned people (judging from your avatar) are any more "spiritually lower evolved" than anyone else? The things you cite are social values issues, not related to biological race per se. Education is the key to success -- for anybody. Now, it is true that some communities value education more than others, and those seem to be the ones that advance socially and economically (Asians are now at the top of the list academically in many schools) but this is not biological -- it is cultural. Consider the fact that Jews -- who have certainly been victimized for centuries -- have generally done very well economically. Why? They value education and will make personal sacrifices to get it for themselves and their children. As the old joke goes, a Jewish dropout is somebody who did not get a Ph.D. And an illiterate Jew is somebody with only one bookcase. The point being, that Jews value education and dropping out simply is not an option. So rather than look at "race" one needs to consider cultural attitudes, I think.

A wise man once said, "Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish and you feed him for life." Handouts and second-class citizenship appears to me to be an ongoing form of oppression in that it perpetuates itself if that were the only means of addressing the historical enslavement of blacks in America. As a decendant of those that owned slaves, I have often thought about this and what could be done to balance the karmic disharmony these events created - a question I have recently learned has troubled my family for centuries as they held ironic abolitionist beliefs while owning slaves as early as at least the 1700s. It seems to me that only through real empowerment and acceptance of one another can we really make peace with one another. Yet the world today is hellbent on competition, deception, and hate. With everyone balkanized into paranoid camps, I have to wonder if we will be making much more progress on this issue soon.

My own counterpoint as well: there are clearly pathways to financial, academic, and personal success available to blacks in America (sorry if I don't use the PC "African American" since I feel strongly that many Americans are no more of their ancestors homelands than anyone else except the indigenous tribes). My boss is a black man and so is the leader of my company. This sort of situation leaves me wondering if maybe many complaints of black inequality come out of a siege mentality rather than real inequalities. As for the hate, look at the religious wars and bigotry! What's new under the sun? People always find excuses to hate others. It's stupid and petty, but that's where most of humanity is at these days.

As for whatever carrying over into death, I know little of what follows death but my own dreams and what human hands have written and people have insisted is "truth." If my own near death experiences showed any reality of this, then I would say that it is just as likely that we'll go to the Happy Hunting Grounds than Heaven, Hel, or Valhalla. All I know is that I don't know quite what to make of the experiences because it was never quite what anyone described or what I expected.

I have no problems with blacks because of their color. Half of my home based church is black. I have problems with anyone, regardless of skin color, that has a welfare mentality. I know a lot of whites that think the world owes them a living and they expect to get catered to by everyone else. Whites can't use the slavery oppression issue though. I feel that if blacks (and others) would accept responsibility for their actions and decide that they alone have to strive to succeed , that they racial barriers would be eliminated by most. Blacks can be successful in life and can serve God but only if they realize that the past has no effect on them. Holding grudges destroyes the grudge holder more than anyone else.

You need to really think about life---here, then there, then some where else. Have you ever traveled? You should- I have been to
Mexico, Columbia, Pannama, Africa (all over), Turkey, Spain, Phillipines, Veit-Nam, Korea, Northern Europe. I have seen real poverty. Many people will die tonight simply because they have not been able to get enough crumbs to keep them alive. I think you can find something to cheer you up. It could be worse.
