To: everyone
God supposedly spoke to the pharoah & the king in dreams...why didn't he bother before Abraham married her off?
re:Sodom & Gomrrah-a reading of the FULL acct has God promising Abraham he won't destroy the town if x amt of people are found to be 'just', but, changes his mind and destroys everything anyway
It has been proven that when an act is commited that results in the death of a person, it's labeled as murder and no one uses the excuse 'God said to' unless they're going for a life-time sentence in an insane asylum
I'm sure there are plenty of guys who would sleep with someone outside of marriage and send them away later with the promise they'll be blessed
redheadphred- I feel the need to be snide when people ok rotten acts supposedly 'ordained' by God...acts they would condemn if commited now
btw,as a FREE-THINKING individual, I'm happy with myself, thanks for the concern!

One would think that having 19 of 22 questions submitted under the Religion & Spirituality category, you should know the answer by now. It's obvious you read the Bible, even if it's just to have "ammunition" to lob at believers.

Is it even remotely possible for you to ask a question about religion without being snide at the same time?

You're more than welcome to being atheist, but why do you feel the need to try to force believers (of a god based faith) to agree with your way of thinking?

Surely there are enough atheists running around who will agree with everything you say...

I'm afraid you don't wear the label of atheist very well. The atheists I personally know are good hearted, kind people and your attempts at "persuasion" put most unbelievers in a bad light. Fortunately, I know better that judge an entire group by the actions of one lone person.

I'm sorry you're so unhappy in your life - yes, it does show by the questions you ask. You may not appreciate it, but I'll remember you in my prayers tonight that somehow you'll find the happiness you need.

You are referring to Abraham however your account of what happened is not accurate. Abraham did lie about his marriage to Sarah. That much is true. However he did not commit murder in the name of God. God never commands someone to commit murder. If God commanded Abraham to kill it was just (right). We see this repeated throughout the Bible. Murder is when you kill without cause. Those whom God commanded His people to destroy were done so because they were God's enemy. He did get Hagar pregnant by permission of his wife, however he did not throw Hagar and Ishmael out because of Sarah's petition. God told Abraham to send Hagar and Ishmael away with the promise that He would make Ishmael a great nation. Abraham also was commanded by God to sacrifice his son Isaac to test his faith in God's promise to him to make him a great nation. And out of his obedience and faith in this event, God counted him righteous and provided a ram for a substitute. You can read all about this in the book of Genesis.
