Sadly, yes you can if they are too low from the inability to stop bleeding. If they are very low you would probably be in the hospital. Have they figured out what is causing your low platelets? Have you been taking a lot of aspirin, aleve, or ibuprofen like products? Have they diagnosed you with ITP or TTP?

Platelets are indeed for blood clotting but people don't usually die from having low platelets. It really all depends on why you have low platelets in the first place, and how low it is at the moment.
To make you happy (and other people miserable), people who takes aspirin (or clopidogrel/Plavix) for heart condition, though they have normal platelet count has disfunctional platelets so their blood takes a lot longer to clot. This also explain why SOME of these people bruises easily.
Your next question may be "if my platelets is low, can I have a platelets transfusion". The answer is no, as platelets are used up very quickly and don't hang around for long. You really ought to speak to your doctor about this as it is very dangerous to get/give info with such limited info on you. Steriod can make your platelets go up, but so can infection. Does that mean you should try to catch a chest infection or urinary infection to keep the number up!

Yes, it is possible, but rare, indeed, if the platelets fall to an extremely low level. It can, then, cause spontaneous internal bleeding. Seek the advice of a doctor or nurse practitioner and continue to monitor on a regular basis.
Medication such as Predizone, which is a steroid and should be taken only on a short term basis , very quickly drives up platelet levels.

Platelets are important for clotting of blood due to a cut, bruise or other hemmoraging. So if you platelet count is too low, you could bleed to death.

Platelets help your blood clot, so just be careful not to cut yourself too badly.

Yes. Blood platelets are what causes your blood to clot and scab so you don't bleed to death.
