I really like sparkling apple cider, but it's kinda expensive (you know the stuff that comes in the bottles). I was wondering if you could get practically the same stuff by carbonating apple juice. That way it would be cheaper and i wouldnt just be paying for the bottle. Anyone know a way to do that? And is it the same as cider?

Didn't Jesus do that in the bible?

Umm yeah... Please disregard all of the requests you have seen to let it "ferment" That is a good way to make a rancid slightly poisonous apple drink.
Anyway you best method is going to be to get some actual yeast. Check your local wine&spirits making shop for the yeast. I would recommend chapaigne yeast. Ask them for some approximations. You will basically need to add some sugar (unless it is already super sweet) and then a very small amount of the yeast. While yes this will make it slightly alcoholic, the alcohol content is negligible and it is fine to give to children. Basically put the cider into about 3/4 of either a pop bottle (sterilized). The CO2 created by the yeast will then make the cider sparkling.

There are also co2 tabs that you can buy, but I'm not sure how effective they are. I believe there may be a bigger chance of exploding bottles with co2 tabs. Those can be purchased at the same kind of place, or even online for better prices.

no apple cider is not just the juice its the skin the pulp and all. And its so expensive because it takes like 20 # of apples to make 1 gallon. So what I would do is get like a small bag of apples maybe 5-10 # (pounds) wash em, deseed em but keep the skin on cook the apples in a simple syrup (1part sugar, 1part water(= amounts))and cook until soft then puree. You can strain it if you don't want the pulp but it will not be much juice. then you can carbonate that juice maybe with club soda or sparkilnig water but not more than the juice you have because then there will be no flavor

Hi! Woodworkingmenace and Psionyx are correct but differ. Wood is correct, don't even try. You need raw product to start with and as for brewing, there is a lot more to it, like having special equipment for checking and converting density (starting sugar weight) so the yeast does not over do it's job equaling BOOM!

It is a lot cheaper to just buy it but if you are still interested just get some books from the library and visit any home brewing store they'll get you one the right track. Be ready for some failures before you get results, brewing is an art and science all in one, be good at basic chemistry. It is however one of the greatest endeavors ever.

the whole ferment thing is wrong, along with the yeast. sparkling cider isn't alcoholic my parents served it to me when i was in elementary school. The fermenting think is wrong too. All you would get is rotten apple juice. I tried it with grape juice, and I got really sick because it was rotten not wine. Also, it's not in the alcohol section it's in the juice section. anyways, the best way is add dry ice to your apple juice. but that may be bothersome. i would think that if you add carbonated water it would water down the drink. so maybe you could get the frozen concentrated apple juice and add carbonated water instead of regular water.

If you get apple juice without preservatives it will sparkle all by itsself after about a week. It's called hard cider and by no means do you serve it to anyone under 21. Cider usually refers to unpreserved apple juice. Apple juice usually is mixed with other juices such as pear and has preservatives in it as well as being more filtered, hence the clear color.

The stuff you get as apple juice is processed differently than apple cider.

Apple cider isnt really processed, its more a "raw product" and it will go sour in a few weeks if left in the fridge.

Apple juice is processed and it will not go sour in a few weeks.

I believe apple juice is heated, and apple cider isnt...

So, there isnt any way to reverse the process that I know of.

I wish you well..

I thnk you can do it one of two ways..... Let the apple cider sit for a few weeks and then add some gingerale. Or for a better tasting sparkling cider just add some gingerale or sprite.

I think you would just add a bit of Carbonated Water, maybe?

Sprite or plain seltzer water.

You will have to play around with the mix, and make it to your taste.
