He just turned 16 and since he was 15, he's had no desire to learn to drive, only play this game on his computer-- all day, all night. And no matter how hard we try to get him off it, he just won't stay off. And he smells like he's never heard the word "deodorant", yet he bathes every other day for about an hour... He was never like this before... why now?

I have a 16 yr old son who is somewhat similar as far as the driving and games go. I wouldn't push the driving part. If he's not interested, he's not interested it's not something every teen wants to do right away. If he wants to go places he'll just have to think of alternative ways....creative problem solving, that's a good thing. Plus there's also the benefit of your parents not having to pay for more car insurance right away.

The smelling part could be from hormonal changes he may be going through. Puberty happens at different stages and times for people. If he's showering regularly the next thing you might try is buying him deodorant a sent products as a birthday or holiday gift. Make him aware of the problem, but not in a teasing or hurtful manner.

I haven't figured out the game thing yet, but there are worse things he could be doing. As best you can, encourage him to participate in activities you as a family are doing. Your mom may have to simply give him not choice about that one once in a while.....some game time, some family time. Dad can be a big help in this area.

Good luck with your brother and I hope things get better for you and him.

Oh my gosh, that's how my sister is-and she's his age! Except she has said that she wants to learn how to drive next summer.
My parents dont like her staying on late-but sometimes she wants
lunch and my family says, "It's actually almost time for dinner."

Restart his computer or when he's in the shower, take some clippers and cut all the wires out of his computer so he'll have no computer. You can't use a computer without a computer mouse or Internet connection. lol.

Something may have happened that none of you are aware of that has suddenly changed his personality. Find someone he can trust that he will tell it to, and get him help immediately! Turn this around before it is too late.

a lot of people are addicted to games but you can always try to find something else that he likes and get him to do that. or lock the computer in the closet. just a though.

I would suggest staying far away and maybe spraying for bugs once a week!
