Or Vice Versa? I like the rain more than the sunshine, because it doesn't rain nearly as much as there is sunshine here. The rain is rare, and I think the smell in the air is wonderful. But the answer to your question either way, I feel is no. Things in life wouldn't be good if they didn't have something to compare to, like the bad.

I am sure we can, to a degree. The thing that will complicate it is the lack of balance. We need the sun for life, but we need the rain as well. Earthlings may resent the sun if it scorches mercilessly without any allowance for rain.

If it never rained.. the sun would eventually disintegrate all life on earth into dust. Not to mention all of the rivers, creeks, oceans and lakes would evaporate.

So my answer is obvious.

Not exactly. We would take it for granted and not realize how vital it truly is to our existence. That is, until one day it quit shining. In a nutshell, we won't miss it until it's gone.

Of course. Can you appreciate them both? Of course.
Can you appreciate life if you've never experienced death? Of course.
