You have to spend some time together, just the two of you. Go shopping, on a short trip or out to lunch, or just whatever you can get her to do. The most important part will be to talk, talk, talk. Don't get all shy and have a little mental plan of the conversations that you may start with her. It could turn into a beautiful friendship! And if not then it won't be on your councience.

Go shopping with her and have coffee with her. Spend a little extra time. Talk about the positives going on in the marriage.

Call her out of the blue with a question she would know the answer too. Pretend you are interested. Than just ease your way into conversation.
