Is God selfish and vain for creating people to worship him. And is he mean for taking the ones that dont and making them burn in hell for all eternity?

God gave us free-will. those who love him are free to worhip him. At judgement, God isn't going to force an atheist to love and worship him for eterntiy. It's all on our choice. Free-will brings about true-love....not by force but by our voluntary love for God.

Do I sense that you don't like the fact that God created you for his purposes?? Once you figure out that we are not in charge here and that He created us for his good pleasure, then we can settle down and live like we should.
God can not be selfish or vain as he is perfect and these would be human flaws.. Humble yourself before the Lord and then you will know him and what he requires of you..
You are being vain and selfish not submitting to the living God..

God isn't selfish.

think about this: if you were an ultimate diety and you had every single power imaginable, so you decided you'd make people because you've created everything there is, and you want mankind to inherit what you created, wouldn't it seem logical that those beings whom you gave the world to, thank you, give you praises and worship you?

God doesn't condemn people to Hell who don't worship him. Jews worship God, but they aren't going to get to enter the gates of Heaven.

I like the way you have spreaded your thoughts. Thinking outside the box. I guess in the society we live in we are basically suppose to follow one set of beliefs. I don't believe in God. I believe in a higher power that WE the HUMANS have created but yet are unknown to it. If a telekenesict can move things with their mind, people can have sixth sense and there are so many more things out there. My ideal belief is that there is NO GOD. Just humans with power in them just not knowing it yet.

No, God is not selfish vain or mean. In fact God is complete love. Let me explain. God sent His Son Jesus into the world, to die for all your wrong doing and mine.. What is selfish vain or mean about that? His love for us is unconditional. He has made a way for each of us to enjoy eternal life, but, individually we need to respond to God, by:

1. Admitting you have done wrong (sinned).
The Bible says: For all have sinned and fallen short of God's standard.

2. Repent (which means to turn away from). Repent of your sin, and ask Jesus to forgive you.
The Bible says: If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

3. Give your life to Jesus. Surrender your will to Him, let Him be Lord of your life.

For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life. John 3 v 16.

God did not create people to worship Him. He created people for several purposes, among those is to be a recipient for His Goodness and to 'assist' Him in the work of creation. To 'assist' Him, He expects us to live by His rules. To be a recipient, He expects us to display gratitude.

It's really very little to ask of those who would not exist except for His beneficence.

If that were truly God, yes he would be petty, vain, cruel, sick, and twisted. But that is not a healthy view of God. Christianity, with its perverse divinity, is a major cause of atheism, because, hey, that's just messed up.

God created man to love man. And this love came with a heavy price - it cost God His Son, Jesus Christ.

“In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins.” 1 John 4:10

And when man truly understands how much God loves him, he will love God naturally.

“We love Him because He first loved us.” 1 John 4:19

And with this understanding also comes worship (also translated as fear or reverent awe) for God:

“If You, LORD, should mark iniquities, O Lord, who could stand? But there is forgiveness with You, That You may be feared.” Psalms 130:3, 4

Yes, I would definitely say "He" is. I agree with you so much you wouldn't even know it. But--you should not judge people for what they believe in because you do not agree with it. But yes, their idea of this God thing sounds very corrupt, mean, vain, and judgemental.

You know little or nothing about God I see. Get yourself a KJV 1611 Bible and set aside some time each day for a one on one with Him.

God created all things including us for His pleasure. Now, have you given Him any pleasure today.><>
