Revelation is symbolic. It was an attempt to mystically tie together events happening in the sky at the dawn of the age of Pisces with events happening on earth (such as the fall of the temple in 70 CE) using the Logos concept of extracting bits and pieces of scriptures to form new "revelations". Daniel was used for this primarily.

If you read through it from this perspective, and assign the imagery to celestial events properly, it's actually an impressive piece of work.

He was no doubt fasting, was not sleeping and was in isolation. Try that yourself and you'll see what he saw too.

He was writing in code because he couldn't write about the Roman Empire out in the open to his congregation. The number 666 refers to Nero and the redemption talked about is their redemption back then.

That people think it applies to today is hilarious. if John could see what they're doing to his book he would laugh too.

its a "METAPHOR" to describe real things. For Ex. The "beast" describes the roman empire..
