Dogs can eat pretty much anything they will eat. My dog doesn't particularly like fruit, but he absolutely adores banana chips, broccoli and carrots.

Dogs should NEVER eat chocolate, obviously, but also onions because they have the same chemical that dogs cannot tolerate. Also, grapes may be safe, but veterinary research is not clear on this yet, so grapes or raisins should not be given to dogs or cats until there's enough research to be sure.

Somebody above said tomatoes can kill dogs, but my vet put my older dog on a real-food diet (like humans eat, instead of giving him dog chow) and half the meals on it involve tomatoes and tomato paste. It's actually not killing him, but improving his health so he will likely live longer than he would have on dog chow.

I see a lot of opinions here.....This is straight from my dog training book. DO NOT give a dog grapes, onions, raisins or chocolate.
Some of the good things to feed are carrots, green beans, watermelon, really most fruits are O.K. except the ones I mentioned. My dogs love the baby size carrots for treats.

ANY IDIOT that would let any animal near alchohol should not own an animal. Any form of alcohol can kill.........................

Also, please watch small children. We are always (especially at holiday time) telling the kids not to let the dogs have any chocolate. My five year old grandson told me, "I gave Bailey(his dog) almost a whole candy bar and he didn't die."
The dog didn't die and didn't get sick. BUT, kids have a way of testing what we tell them.

SAL: I love your list. Do you really think (besides raisins/grapes) that anyone on this planet is ignorant enough to feed a dog any of the items on that list?

Absolutely! My pup loves watermelon, cherries, apples, BANANAS especially. Grapes should not be given my vet told me. They also like vegetables. Mine likes carrots, celery, raw green beans. These are much better for your dog too!

my rottweiler loved grapes and would eat them whenever i gave them to him. watermelon shouldn't be a problem as long as it isn't too much as it might cause lose stools.

Animals eat what they are used to. My sister is a vegetarian and her dogs eat veggies just like she does.
