The answer above is wrong.
Yes it could, but I would not recommend it when looking to the side effects. Your Central Nerve System get used to it and when you want to give up the use of benzodiazepine there will be a great chance that you will develop alcoholism.
Benzodiazepines are also known to be triggering illness in the nerve system serious illness and illness you never had and will never have but will be confirmed. The producers will never tell you in their facts of products.

Benzodiazepines have little effect at reducing pain. Studies have suggested that Amitryptiline (Elavil) or gabapentin (Neurontin) may be effective for neuropathic pain...you may want to consult with a neurologist.

No. They do not feel the sense like we humans do. This is because we have a central nervous system running through our vertebra (backbone) which sends messages to our brain. This means that if if our leg is hurt, we feel the pain at the top brain. On the other hand, the insects are non-vertebra and they do not have central nervous system. Thus if an ant's leg is crushed, only the leg will feel local pain. Moreover, their pain magnitude is short, since they produce large number of off springs and their life is short. They can also reproduce their lost organs. It has been observed that if you cut a cockroach's head, it will die after a month due to starving. Scientists have cut a lobster's leg and feed him, which he ate. It is also true that except for human beings no other animal is aware of its existence.

Benzodiazepines have no pain relieving properties. Then are used primarily for anxiety and insomnia. Then again if you sleep through your pain you won't even know it's there.

Please see the webpage for more details on Benzodiazepines ((Systemic). It is administered for anxiety disorders. No mention has been made in the drug info regarding neuropathic pain relief.
