My friend has a brother who looks through all of her things. He memorizes her bank statements, financial information, store receipts, restaurant receipts, and reads her report cards. She usually makes decent grades. He hides all of his financial information so that she can't see it and hides his report card - he usually makes below average grades and he's the oldest, by six years. He pretends that he wants her to help him with his homework so that he can raise his grades when their mom is around, but when they are alone, he gives her lectures about why he doesn't want or need her help - he wants the answers only. Sometimes, when they share classes, he cheats off her test. He always tells her that he loves her. I think that he really loves his sister. Why is he always trying to take advantage of her?

I agree that she needs a lock box to keep her brother out of her PERSONAL documents. Unless he is her guardian appointed by a judge, he has no legal right to be looking at her financial statements.
As for the homework, she can tell him that if he doesn't need her help, then he doesn't need her to give him the answers. He can do the work himself or not at all. On the tests, perhaps she could request of her teachers that she and her brother be separated for test taking.
I don't know what their parental situation is like, but his behavior really isn't appropriate. She should probably sit down and talk with her parents about it.

regrettably, with relations there somewhat isn't a good purchase you may do. they have a tendency to be nosy because they discern considering that your relatives, they're many times. next time they call, answer one among their nosy questions and then everytime they ask yet another one, merely substitute the concern. save doing it until eventually they seize on that you're somewhat no longer fascinated in what they imagine about in case you'll breastfeed or no longer, or in case you get the epidural or in case you recommend to have better youthful little ones or something else they could ask. i'm frequently a rather blunt individual besides, yet i ought to under no circumstances tell my relations to ideas their own ******* company both!

Because he's controlling and manipulative.
And because she LETS it happen. She needs to stand up for herself. She needs to get a filing cabinet with a lock or a shredder and keep all of her personal stuff personal.
AND, she needs to tell her mother what the hell is going on. If mom's in the dark, she can't be blamed for not dragging the jerk into the light, now can she?!

What do you do with nosy people period to satisfy their curiosities? Plant fake information! They'll flip out at the fact they see something negative about you and the minute they spread it around or say something to you about it, you'll have one up on them when you show them that they have been tricked. It won't be as fun anymore. I heard this works with those office desks/cubicle snoopers at jobs. He must really need a life to be that damn nosy or she could just beat his azz a few good times and he might stop.

Radio Shack. Get a spy camera and record everything. Show it to all family members and friends. Make an event of it. It will hurt him, but it will get the message through.

Brothers/Fathers, normally protecting their children/sisters from their own evilness. most Fathers and Brothers scared of their own shadow. and hope their evilness (that is in someone elses body will not do any evil think to the sisters/daughters/partners) but honestly they love to do that to someone elses daughters/sisters/partners though.
it is love but in a wrong way.. They need somebody to explain that to them though, I know trust me, I am a bloke!!!

Steel box + 1 key = problem solved.
Either he's completely foiled or at least gets the message.

sounds like classic sibling rivalry bordering on abuse.
Your friend needs to learn to hide her things in appropriate places or put them under lock and key.
People can't take advantage of you unless you allow them to.
