My particular tradition of Paganism requires a tattoo for every year you are in the Craft, up to (but not limited to) five, each representing a different element (earth, air, water, fire, spirit). Blessed be.

Tattoo's have been asscociated with Healing in stoneage times (The Ice Man in the Alps), and healing was traditionally performed by preists. So I would presume that in ancient times, they did.
