..Why Do People Still Believe It?
In the past, people could at least plead ignorance of modern science, I mean, we've accepted the Earth is not flat and revolves around the Sun.

Christianity in modern society is an anachronism. It's for insecure people who need a crutch in their life because they don't know how to deal with the real world. It should be consigned to history with other absurd superstitions such as witch burning. Here is an organised religion with so much blood on it's hands (crusades, holy wars) and still rational adults choose to subscribe to it.
Trying to use rational argument and scientific fact and is futile because they brainwash themselves into believing this ridiculous dogma and disguising it as faith, it's not faith, it's putting on a pair of blinkers to fact.
I was brought up a Catholic and attended church for the first 15 years of my life so please don't tell me I don't know what I'm talking about, I have looked at both sides of the argument. How many Christians can make that claim.
Also, he doesn't say that the Bible says the earth is flat, he was using that as an example of another disproved theory from the past. Like Christianity.

Job 40:15-17 "Look at the behemoth, which I made along with you and which feeds on the grass like an ox .......His tail sways like a cedar"
There is only one animal on the face of the earth that had a tail like a cedar (a cedar is a huge big tree) and that is a dinosaur. Some people say that they are talking about a hippo or elephant but none of these animals fit this description. This is not even talking about the Leviathan which, by the way, is not a mythical creature but another description of a dinosaur in the Bible.
Evolution HAS NOT been proven. It is still a theory. Every single 'missing link' has been refuted. Evolutionists themselves agree that they do not have significant evidence to turn the theory of evolution into the fact of evolution. Charles Darwin in his book "On the origins of the species" admitted that he had no factual evidence to support his theory but he was convinced that the evidence would be found. It has not been found so far.
Most Christians do not reject the theory of evolution due to the Biblical evidence because the Bible actually says that Adam was made from the dust of the land so this allows for different interpretations. The scientific evidence for evolution is simply to scant. They've litterally found hundreds of thousands of dinosaur bones with not one single intermediate form!
This is in complete contrast to the vast amount of scientific and geological evidence that supports the Bible.
The earth existed long before humans were made (Genesis 1) so it is very possible for the earth to be much older than 4000 years.
The Bible does not claim the earth to be flat. The original hebrew word that is translated 'four corners of the earth' is in fact quadrants.
The book of Job (you must really read it if you're looking for scientific evidence for the inspiration of the Bible, start at Chapter 40) tells us that the earth is a sphere. It also talks about the valleys and mountains of the sea (this was only discovered years and years later) it talks about binding the pleiades (which is a constellation of stars that stick together) this was only discovered in the 1900's and it talks about loosening the belts of Orion (it was discovered in 1900's that the belts of Orion is being loosend as time goes by)
Science has never and will never refute the Bible If you're gonne knock the Bible you're gonne have to do better than this.
And I notice that you don't have a lame comment for the guys who actually gave you a decent answer. If you're not really looking for an answer you shouldn't ask the question.
Leviathan is NOT A WHALE. Read the description in Job. There is no whale that we know of today with that description. In Psalm 27 it's called a gliding serpent, coiling serpent. Since when does a whale even get close to looking like a serpent?

The proof we find of the existence of dinosaurs does not disprove scripture. It confirms it. What gets disproved are the traditions that have developed over time due to the accumulation of Man's input and the misinterpretation of scripture. Tradition says the world is only 6,000 years old because they work the begats & begats back to Adam (4,004 B.C.), add 6 days, and think they have the Creation of the Universe. Scripture says nothing of the kind.
In Hebrew, the use of polysyndetons in the first chapter of Genesis show us that 102 separate acts are defined. The English word "And" replaced a Hebrew word that had a much different usage. It is not a conjunction. Verse 1 says that in the Beginning, God created the heaven and the earth. Period. Verse 2 is separated from verse 1 by billions of years. Verse 2 tells us that the world (which was NOT created void and without form, tohuw va bohuw in the Hebrew, see Isaiah 45:18) BECAME that way. The English word "was" in Hebrew was "hayah", and it means "became". God ended the first earth age, the age of dinosaurs and ancient "spiritual" man, and began a new age, the age of flesh man. It was actually many thousands of years before Adam. (Adam was NOT the first man, but this is a different lesson.)
The way dinosaurs verify scripture is this:
We discovered dinosaur fossils in the 1800's, right? Well, in Job chapter 40, God is chewing out Job pretty good, and tells him to answer Him if he can. He asks Job if he can remember where he was when God made behemoth. In the Hebrew it is EXTREMELY obvious from the detailed description that behemoth is a huge, herbivorous dinosuar. Like a brontosaurus, or something very similar. God says "I made you when I made him."
Now, if the scriptures are just the fabrications of early men's fantasies, and are not real, HOW COULD THE AUTHOR OF THE BOOK OF JOB HAVE DETAILED KNOWLEDGE OF A DINOSAUR'S PHYSICAL ATTRIBUTES???? They died out 65,000,000 years ago.
Good question!

Have you not read of the behemoth or the leviathan? Many believe this may be a reference to dinosaurs. But even if they were not. What kind of logic do you claim to be using? Please explain how not mentioning dinosaurs would disprove the authority of the bible. It does not specifically mention bats or raccoons either. Do you think this is evidence against the bible as well? Why? Your argument seems childish and without thought.
Where in the bible does it claim that the earth is flat? It does not make this claim anywhere.
Where in the bible does it claim that the earth is the does not revolve around the sun? Again you are mistaken. The bible does not claim that the earth is the center of our solar system.
If you are going to claim these things as evidence against the bible you should first educate yourself to what the bible says.
Christians are not ignorant of science. Perhaps you should plead ignorance of the bible.

people who believe the bibles version of time do so out of fear and habit. fear in not wanting to reject any part of what they see as utterly sacred and habit because it is what they and more often their family before them believe to be true. people know the bible was written long ago, but many often do not consciously realise the bible began as a series of oral stories passed through generations by men in a certain area to teach lessons which were later written down only once again by men. many different creation stories can be found around the globe and the reason being is that these stories were created in a time when peoples minds even if presented with the truth could not grasp the realities of the universe having no boundaries and the effects of gravity on the universe. consider it wasnt until 1687AD that newtons laws of motion (which now seem like common sense notions) were published to the world, a mere 300 or so years ago.

No. The Bible does not say there were not dinosaurs, and as a matter of fact, even mentions something described like one, it was called Behemoth.
.Scientists in the former Soviet Union have reported a layer of rock containing more than 2,000 dinosaur footprints alongside tracks “resembling human footprints.”1 Obviously, both types of footprints were made in mud or sand that has since hardened into rock. If they are human footprints, then man and dinosaurs lived at the same time. Similar discoveries have been made in Arizona.2 If it were not for the theory of evolution, few would doubt that these were human footprints.

It says right here in my Bible, in the book of Blop:
On the 9th day, God went back in time and created the dinosaurs, which evolved into Lickalotapus: the first proto-human species. Unfortunately for Lickalotapus, it didn't breed as often as Gigolosaurus, so Gigolosuarus won out by natural selection. Gigolosaurus bred so much, with so many different subspecies, and that explains why there are so many different colors of skin, body odors, rap songs, etc.
Peace!

The bible is flawed as it was written by humans, but that doesn't mean God doesn't exist, it just means your faith was so weak that it died at the first contradiction you read in a book written by men. It's not intelligence you have but a loss of faith. As for us now knowing the world is round, well the book of job (not 100% sure, could have been another) states that we hang here on a sphere, and that was long before it was proven the world is round. There is definately a God but i wouldn't rely on the bible for his word as it's full of contradictions. The whole point of living in my opinion is a TEST of faith, and if you pass you will be rewarded, if you fail, well i'll leave you to discover whats at the end of that road.

You have to realise that the Old Testamnet was written thousands of years ago. The word dinosaur wasn't even thought of. But their are two distinctive creatures that people believe could be the dinosaur. Leviathon and Behemoth We are not sure what they where but its a good posiblility that they this is the prove that we need.
