A while back there was a big thing with a picture of muhamed or mohamed, what ever his name is. Muslims got enraged and were protesting and what not. Our own government condemned the cartoon and even the media would not show it saying it was insesitive and offensive. Why is that anyway, people victimize the image of jesus everyday and not a lot of attention would be paid to it, what are we afraid of here?

I think the difference is that there is no law in the Bible or among Christians that disallows for a picture or an image of Jesus to be created. However, Islam forbids any image of Muhammad. Now, as Christians, it's offensive when someone is disrespectful to the image of Jesus but I think most of us can see that it's only an image. And besides, why should we get bent all out of shape just because someone offends us? Chalk it up to ignorance and move on. Muslims, however, just can't seem to see it the same way we do. They're really sticklers for the laws in the Koran. Like, you know, you can behead an infidel, but you better not draw a caricature of Muhammed......

In America, we have freedom of religion and separation of church and state. In America, we also have political correctness which dictates that no one can be offended if avoidable.

In nearly all Muslim countries, the church and state are the same. That is why we have Islamic Law. Only a few Muslim nations have secular forms of government. Saddam ran a secular government in Iraq before his overthrow.

The Eastern Orthodox venerate icons, which are images of the saints, of Christ, etc. The Orthodox would be upset if an icon were desecrated, but we rely on the legal system to prosecute such offenders.

Muhammad is sacred to the Muslims and reacted strongly to his desecration in Europe for political reasons. Think of this another way - Have you seen any cartoons with Jesus (besides South Park)?

Good point. If Christians protested in the streets every time something was said about Jesus or the Pope, they would never be home.

Some religious people (regardless of their background) can become very defensive when anything is said about their religion that they don't like.

It was a Danish cartoon with an image of his turban exploding.

I suppose because many countries in the Middle to far East have religion and government tied so closely together. America tries to kick out the influence of religion whenever possible.

Many Muslims suspected the "war on terror" was a "war on Islam" and the danish cartoons republished over and over again confirmed it and the excuse of freedom of speech was only a disguised excuse. America did what it did to serve it's interests especially in the ME, where anti American sentiment was already on the rise. If it was another time and place they would've had a different response.

Because this side of the world is a christian majority. People tend to get more offended if a minority is being discriminated. Also, the prophet Mohammed teaches tolerance of other religions, while christianity teaches that their god is the one true god and everybody else's are a farce. Tell me, which one of those religions are more arrogant and should be made fun of?

Wouldn't it be wonderful if they did not have to tell me that my Jesus CHEATED at the Cross and had a substitute die in HIS place. (Surat Al-Nisa 4:157 ) .

I feel it is ""fair game"" to point out a falsehood when any group make it.

I feel it is ""fair game"" to put up a URL directing readers to alternate web sites when a Cult, deviously, puts up a URL directing people to a site that is designed to ensnare them in to their Cult.

It is sad the the management of Yahoo Answers does not agree with me - but I do agree, they are doing a pretty good job.

cuz our prophet is more important to us more than our children, parents and even ourselves.
we can forgive in anything except insulting our prophet
but why anyone insult the others beliefs, ? there is absolutely no reason for insulting others religions
if u don't believe in Islam ,its OK but why the insult
ppl in the west don't consider religion as big thing ,its their choice but at the same time respect our religion
here is why any Muslim will sacrifice himself to defend prophet Muhammad

http://www.muhammad.net/
as we respect ppl religions we also need to be respected too
