absolutely both parents should spank.

it does absolutely no good for say the father to spank a child when the mother has witnessed the misbehavior.

By telling the child, "wait until your father gets home", 1) the mother becomes someone who can be walked on; 2) father becomes the bad guy whom the children don't want to be around, and most importantly 3) by the time the father gets home from work, the child will have already forgotten why they are being punished.

by having both parents punish the misbehavior, the child knows that boundaries have been set and are to be obeyed at ALL times, no one parent becomes the "Bad" guy, and they know that they are not able to pull something over on the non-punishing parent.

Oh goodness. How irritating and illiterate can some people get?! Just because you didn't spank and your child didn't murder someone doesn't prove that spanking is wrong. The question was whether who should spank, NOT is spanking right or wrong.

If you do not agree with spanking or simply unable to comprehend a simple question, why bother answering? Ignorance is thick in the air.

I think both , so no one looks like a bad guy, I truly beleave in spankings and shoul dbe done more often so many brats running around who need a good whooping, I think talking is ok at times depending on what the child had done. If it is something that will cause harm to him or other spank, if he pours sugar all over floor a time out. I know that i got spanked I am not damaged and man I coulda used more lol

The father should spank the son, while the mother should spank the daughter. Males should keep their hands off of females.

I`m only 13 but I`m still going to tell the truth. I think the mother should. Why? Because a mother seems to sometimes be more gentle, but can still put a hurt on you. A fathers hand is sometimes so big it can hurt more than necessary. I don`t recommend a paddle or belt. If you use anything, get a wet rag but make sure pants are on. (: It`ll deff discipline them, but all in all, I probably won`t spank my kids later in life. I don`t believe in it, I`ll just give the correct discipline.

Both. Some people think spanking is wrong, but it's really not. Just make sure your kid respects you, no fears you and you should be fine. But yeah both...that way the child will listen to both of you and you wont have to say something like, "just wait until your father gets home!" Know what I mean....???

Although they'll never admit it, children really do appreciate discipline. I think its best for a father to be the dominate discipliner. A child looks at his mother differently when the meathod of discipline being used is corporal punishment. I suggest when possible, try alternatives to spankings 1st. Spankings should be of last resort.

I think both parents should spank. Both the mother and father should share the discipline equally, so the child doesn't think they can get away with something with one or the other.

well I was spanked my daughter was spanked .....I beleive if you spank you should first tell the child why they are getting spanked be sure they understand, but be gental and never spank a child out of anger. I feel it is up to the individual famly morals, they beleive in. I hope I gave you some insight to your question. both as long as it is just a spanking and only after the child is a repeat offender. if the child has done the same thing several times and has already been warned then a spanking should be done.
