Religion per se has nothing to do with the feeling of being a victim. Every religion has felt (and been) persecuted at times throughout history. While some individuals may attribute their feelings of persecution to their religious affiliation, the vast majority of persecutory feelings are related to other personality variables which are inherent to the individual experiencing them.
Religion may be one factor for some people, but it certainly isn't for everyone. There are many atheists who feel as inferior as their religious counterparts.
