Depends on what you mean by abnormal. At our facility ALL imaging reports are sent to the referring doctor within 24 hours. If we do an exam, and something needs immediate attention, my radiologist will call the referring doc (for example, a broken leg found on x-ray or a large aortic aneurysm on ultrasound). If we do a chest x-ray and see COPD, that is not an emergency, and 24 hours will not make much difference in treatment, so that does not require a phone call. As for how long before your referring doctor will notify you, that will depend from doc to doc. If you feel you have waited long enough, give your doctor a call.

A doctor can read an Xray in under 10minutes -- its just that if there's a problem, he may want to consult his colleagues to be sure..
Anyway, as soon as the report is ready following taking the xray, you will be notified. This of course depeneds on how busy the doc is and how many other patients xrays he has to read and interopret. Accordingly you should get the results no later than a couple of hours. Many radiologists actually give the results immediately - in about 20-30minutes after taking an Xray.

Depends on the emergency it comes along with, and if you need to be treated straight away. in this case the radiologist most of the time knows the suspection and will be around when shoots are taken, otherwise he will come see them straight away if the laborants notices something unusual (as laborants (but also radiologists) are never allowed to tell anything about the pictures taken to the patient involved), and after judging the radiologist will contact the doctor, and then it depends on the doctor how soon he will tell.
Normaly it will be 2-5 days before you get the diagnosis.
Fractures are always told straight away as medical staff in this case are allowed to give diagnosis to proceed the treatment, cancer only after further research to make the right diagnosis because most times xrays, ct or MRI arent telling what kind of cancer is shown. It is not true to think that you will hear faster when it is something worse, it only goes for fractures and lungdiseases for example, that need immediate treatment that cant wait for more than one day.
I tell you this as I am a student assistent in medical imaging.

I have found in the past that when it's worrying you (the patient) it's best to call the doctor's office to ask about it. Sometimes what a doctor feels is important isn't necessarily on the same page as the patient's concern. As a patient you worry and want to know right away. Your xray is most likely a non-urgent matter, you doctor knows it, but he fails to realize the anxiety level of the patient. Or he may not have received the results back yet. No harm in calling to ask though. If the doctor is busy (he probably is) ask to speak to his nurse.

Cardiomegaly ability the middle is enlarged. Aortic calcification is a classic looking with advancing age. If his LDL is severe, then his lipid panel might want to offer him a more effective possibility aspect for heart assaults and strokes - he might want to favor to visual demonstrate unit his fat intake (a lot less saturated fat, more effective polyunsaturated fat) and do more effective workout. i'm no longer confident what you recommend by using ASVD - atherosclerotic vascular ailment isn't without project considered on x-ray and needs arteriography (dye study) to work out it. - atrioventricular septal defects are some thing found in toddlers. The bradycardia might want to perchance be a sturdy aspect - has been a fit and energetic man or woman all his existence? Bradycardia is often found in athletes (who've large stroke volumes and so do no longer want a speedy heart cost to keep up the provision of blood), with particular drugs (beta-blockers quite), and in end level very unwell hearts which isn't what he has. Your father does no longer want a cardiac cath (or angiogram) until eventually an workout rigidity try shows he has heart ailment (or until eventually he has a sparkling decrease angina attack interior the meanwhile). Do the keep on with up with the health care professional. meanwhile, he desires to workout and make his weight relief plan a touch leaner.
