i was just reading some diet thing on this site and this person siad they have a 5inch gut there to fat and all that ...so what does the 5 inch mean....5 inches outward or....im confuesed alot of people say it??

I think you answered your own question. It sound like it means 5 inches beyond what they believe their stomach should be. Not very technical is it?

It means they have 5 inches of extra fat measured around their waist line than the recommended amount of inches they should have around their waist.

That means that they can pinch 5 inches of fat on their wastelines. No one's waistline is only 5 inches around. That's about the size of my phone!
