...and you don't feel the same way back. Nothing you can do, it's not your problem.
My girlfriend had a guy come up to her in highschool and say "if you don't go on a date with me, I'm going to kill myself"
Her response?
"good luck with that!"
He can't be in love with you if you don't feel the same way back, love doesn't work like that. Tell him to get over it, or...good luck with that!

If the feelings are mutual then you should give a relationship a chance. However if they are not you need to find the kindest way possible to let them know that even though you care about them and love being around them, that you do not feel the same way about them. Aslo promise them that you won't let things change between you because they are so valuable to you. I know from experience that doing this is one of the hardest things to do, but what I suggested to my friend was that if my feelings for him ever changed he would be the first to know. We also made a pack that if we weren't married to other people by the time we were forty that we would try dating then.

Best friends make the best relationships. But you are basically crying help soooo, is this the same sex or does it make you feel like you might lose a good friend because the relationship changes?

Whats wrong with being best friends with the one you love. True love is consuming in many ways. It should include loving each other as friends as well as committed souls. You're lucky......

I ended up marrying my best friend but when it all started there were lots of discussions like what happens if it doesn't work as we couldn't have stayed friends.
So to summarise go for it if you think it will work but be aware of the risks.
