I am 5'8 and my husband is 6'7. He is just so much taller than everyone in his family - he towers over his parents, so I guess I just don't believe the average height one would work for us. If I double my sons height at 27 months, like one of the link says, he will probably be 6'4-6'5 which makes a little more sense to me. Who knows though right? I guess only time will tell. I am just curious.

It's not a wives tale. Double age 2 height.

attached is a link that tells you all the height and weight formulas by age

the old wives tales above are correct but the best way to guess if your child will be tall or not is to look at the parents and the height of the child between the ages of about 2 and 3. If your child falls above the 97th percentile for height in this time there is a good chance they will be taller than average when they are older.

i too have a tall little girl...she is 26-months old and 95cm tall (3ft 2inches) which is in the 100th percentile range for her age. i am 5ft8, my brother is 6ft5 so there is a good chance she will be tall as well. if i doubled her height...that would be 6ft and i doubt very much that she will be that tall...

I also heard that you can estimate a child's future adult height by taking the average of the heights of the parents. You add two inches for a boy and subtract two inches for a girl.

For example, if mom is 5 ft even, and dad is 6 ft even, the average would be 5 ft 6 in. A boy would grow to be 5 ft 8 in, and a girl born to those parents would be 5 ft 4 in.

Just a loose estimate.

I don't know about the old wives tale but I read in a baby mag that you add the parent heights in inches, divide by 2, then add 5 if it's a boy and minus 5 if it's a girl.

One rough estimate is to average the heights of the mother and father and add two incehes for a boy or subtract two inches for a girl to get a rough estimate.

I haven't heard that one but I have heard that your child's height will equal the average height of the parents +2" . sounds good to me

age 2. It came pretty close for my son. He was 2' 11" at age 2, he's 5' 11" now.
