I did the same a few months ago and still my knee is bad...
you should go to your doctor and you will be referred to an orthopedic surgeon. MRI's will be done, surgery can happen, then therapy will happen...
sorry to hear this, but you will be off it for awhile... do everything you are told to do.
oh yeah, and its a possibly to have arthritis from it, (I do now and I'm 18)

With all respect ... you are truly thinking like an athlete, not like a rational person.
How do you know you have damaged ligaments, if you haven't seen a doctor?
It is amazing what reconstructive surgery can do to joints, especially the human knee. You need to see a doctor. You might have a torn cartiledge: If you are young enough, they can perform microsurgery on the cartilege and save it - rather than remove it. If you have ligament damage, are they torn or stretched? There are different treatments for each. If they are torn, did they damage the bone? Where was the tear? Are they severed, or partially torn?
You should sometime in your life take a logic class. To solve a problem, you first must start with known premises. You have to know where you are to get where you are going. You have no idea what state your knee is truly in, so there is no process - other than guesswork - that you can implement to properly heal your knee.
Go see a doctor. Find a good othropedic surgeon, make an appointment tomorrow. Tell them it is an emergency and you must see the doctor tomorrow.
Good luck.

I believe it's the ligaments that hold the knee joint together. If a ligament is damaged then the whole joint is dangerously weakened, you might also be putting the other ligaments under too much strain. You should get it checked out.

You should seek medical advice from a doctor, obviously, but after that (depending on what the doctor says), I think gentle exercise such as walking will be good for it; the doctor may give you a knee brace to wear which should help keep things in place while it gets better.

Knee pain can be a serious problem for us football players. Make sure to take care of it before it ruins your playing career and your knees. I'd go to the hospital to make sure nothing is torn.

As Captain Mainwaring used to say to Private Pike in Dads Army "STUPID BOY" how do you know that they are damaged if you haven't been to the hospital or seen a doctor. Pathetic.

i would really go to the hospital, I am currently re-couperating from a simlar injury.
I have had to have a small operation, if you are in pain i would really advise that you go, you will probably be told to visit a and e again in two weeks, but then if the pain is still persistant you maybe referred to a specialist...
good luck!

If you can find one in your area, go to a doctor who specializes in Sports medicine (there really is such a thing) -- if not, see your own doctor or one recommended by a friend; this happened to someone I know, and cortisone shots really helped.
