Unless we go to full sclae war against China I would not worry about the draft. Although from what i know the army is desperate for soldiers right now, so if we ended up fighting an enemy as powerful as China there is a good chance that a draft would be instaded. As far as North Korea though I doubt there would be a draft for North Korea, because I believe that we have enough influence in South Korea to ally with them against North Korea.

If we fight against China though I'd be worried about a lot more than a draft and I hope that every able citizen would join because in my opinion they would be the most difficult enemy we've ever faced. As another note though I am not too worried about a war against China because I would hope that our government is too smart to get into something as stupid as that.

No, not ever. For two reasons.

1. It would have to be voted on in congress and pass. No congressman is stupid enough to introduce such a bill and no congressman is stupid enough to vote yes on it. If they did, they would NEVER win another election.

2. If there were ever a really emergency and the president issued a draft through an executive decision which would institute a draft without congressional consent, then that president would be censured by congress and maybe even impeached.

Even mentioning a draft institution in Washington would be political suicide. It would be like going into Harlem and yelling, "BLACK SLAVERY FOREVER!"

Well, what Mudsplitter "knows" is very little since the entire military, Army included, has been meeting its recruitment and retention goals for 24 months straight now! I hate when people talk out of their as ses about stuff they know NOTHING about!

By the way, Broxolm, Charlie Rangel introduced a bill only three years ago that called for a draft. He did it for mere politics and knew it would fail, but he did it. I guess he is stupid, though.

No. That is something that young American men always worry about. But the fact is, we have a very large and very proficient military force. People are still being recruited and making careers out of the military. We are far from the dire straits it would take to reinstate a draft. Remember, your senators and representatives in Congress represent you. They don't want you drafted as much as they don't want their own sons drafted.

No. We'll resort to Clintonian war tactics before we will initiate a draft.

You ask "What are Clintonian war tactics?" They are something I made up to express the idea that Clinton seemed to like to deliver his message from the air and over the bargaining table, while not putting ground troops in harm's way.

Why would you listen to random children on this website? I grew up on a base and have met some of the top military leaders in the US. This question simply outrages them. Also, why do you think recruiters offer free college education? Bribe. Do you think they'd bribe people if they were going to force them to join anyway?

absolutely not.

North Korea would not have been a problem if Clinton and Albright had not given them nuclear technology with the promise that they wouldn't use it to build a bomb.

What idiots - now the world is stuck with the mess they created.

No. Any senator who backs a draft is signing his or her political death warrant (for the career, not the person), and they know it. They would rather have our troops grievously undermanned than propose a draft.

Could be. It's nearly another Vietnam and Bush started it all, but this time we won't take it out on our military like was done to the Vietnam Vets.
