This is not the right time to introduce a puppy or an older dog into the family. As you know, 2 year olds like to pull tails, ears, and don't know how to be easy with animals.
I would recommend waiting until your baby sis is at least 5 years old so you can reason with her and teach her the proper way to treat pets. I say this not only for the safety of the pet, but for you little sis too. An animal that feels picked on and or pursued may strike back, and it would not be a good result for your sister.
For now, let her have the stuffed animals, and teach her with those.

First, make sure there is someone in your house that can properly care for the dog. You can't just leave them around. Plus, puppies are extra work ( it is actually kind of like a kid-). I would suggest that you get an adult dog that is already trainned. Puppies will be expensive to care for, and will not be good with little kids all the time. Also, make sure you get a dog that is a large breed because small breed dogs are unfriendly most of the time. I think the cat is a bad idea.

A stuffed one.
A 2 year old is not at the right age for a pet.
The 2 year old can pull ears or a tail and get bitten very easily.
We try not to place dogs with people who have children under 5 in our rescue.

if your looking for a cat i recommend getting a kitten not an adult they are set in their ways and may not like kids. if you want a dog it all depends on you; i know experts say get a adult dog or don't get one until your child is 5years of age. bottom line is how much time can you put into caring for the dog or cat as well as your child. if you can get a puppy get one; cuz usually with adult dogs if they become attached to someone right away this could be bad if they attatch themselves your child don't ever wrong the child if they attatch to you beware of jealousy. with a puppy; like i said how much time can you dedicate to the puppy. they two will grow together and have an unbelievable bond. as far as breed of dog it depends on you i would just stay away from dalmations and cockerspaniels; im not knocking the breeds just very hyperactive.

dogs:
1)labrador retriever
2)golden retriever
Make sure you get her an adult dog. Puppies are not good for little kids because the child can get too rough and hurt the puppy. Plus, puppies like to bite and chew on fingers and little children cant understand that this is playing and therefore become scared of the dog.

according to your life syle . where you live is there room for the dog to run around outside . Bigger dogs need lots of space to run and play Smaller dogs require less. And also taking care of the dog ,washing ,feeding, etc. .This should all be things to think about when choosing a pet.

Seeing as you are probably going to be the one responsible for feeding, walking and generally caring for it, maybe you should get a pet that suits you! Two year olds love all pets.
