I don't mean this to be offensive so please don't take it that way. But while I've been on Yahoo! answers I've come across numerous American's who seem to think the answer to everything is to just drop a nuke on it. Do people perceive the US to be trigger happy? And do the American's feel that its because of their government that people believe this?

Yes we are. We are probably one of the more Warlike countries in the world. whether that at home or abroad. it's part of our culture. Our music and movies are crammed with violence. the TV news is full of wars and conflicts that we are involved in every day and every night the news reports the killing and shooting near your house or area. We are brought up to fight...look at our sports...boxing, football, hockey...etc. the problem is our country has strayed from the succesful teachings of not only how to fight...but what to fight for.

Oh, it seems like a lot of us, are, doesn't it? Our government certainly acts that way, but believe me it brings grief to a large number of us in the US.

As to Answers on Yahoo, I think there are a lot of dumb teenagers running around answering questions who don't know anything about anything. Whenever I see the phrase "nuke them" I assume the writer is 14. Not that that's really an excuse, teens are old enough to educate themselves, and it says a lot about the US that they don't, and that when they don't know much they just get trigger happy.

American's are no more "trigger happy" than anyone else in the world. No more than the Japs at Pearl Harbor or the Muslims on 9/11/01 or the Germans against Poland in 1939 as they started WWII,or the Russians against the entire eastern Europe all during and after WWII or the Cambodians post-Vietnam war, or the Vietnamese or Chinese post Vietnam war, or the africans in all their tribal wars or the latinos in their Spanish-American war or in their drug wars, or the Asians under Ghengis Kahn and Kublai Kahn or . . .(shall I continue, or do you get my drift?). Don't let liberal's excuse for thinking and pointing fingers back at home plate distort an otherwise potentially good mind. God Bless you.

Um what country do you live in? When we had a problem with Japan, what did we do? We dropped the first attomic bomb on them.. In general, maybe.. But personally, when in video games, I am majorly trigger Happy... Its video games and cool violent movies that do this to us.. If its OK on TV, why not do it in real life...This is how some people that I have met feel about this... why show somethig to someone, if they aren't allowed to imitate it? This is how some sick minded weirdos think... It is because of our American steriotype that leads to the belif of Triger happy USA.. Rich, tough guys that wont stand for any enemies... That is what some Americans are percieved as...

Sorry, my British friend, but I don't recall seeing any proposals to drop a nuke. Perhaps one of the many children who obviously play on this site may have said something like that. Things should improve once they're back in school. Keep a stiff upper lip until then, what?

Every since the Soviets faded and Uncle Sam became the hog with the big nuts He has solved more by gun barrel diplomacy than anything else. Don't anyone remember the saying? Power corrupts. Total power corrupts totally.

I was about to flame away when I read you question, but after I saw the rest, I realized the point you're trying to make and it's one I happen to agree with.

I also get frustrated with the folks I've labeled as the "Kill 'em all and let God sort 'em out" group. They have but one of way of dealing with conflict, yet they claim to want to live in peace. Plainly put, they lack the grey matter necessary to figure out how to tie their own shoes, let alone deal with sensitive geopolitical issues.

People just like to say that because they're dumb. If the government believed this we would have nuked whole world including ourselves.
