Well....it took me about an hour and a half from West Point to get there so from NYC to West Point would be what? Another 90 minutes. I'd say about 3 to 4 hours.
Oh...no where really to stay in Cooperstown. Go to Oneoda. A nice place called Christophers that also has a great restaraunt. It was cheap in the off season and may be considerably more but it's a great place. good food and lovely rooms.

Cooperstown is closer to Albany than NYC.
Perhaps an hour from Albany.

Great little town. Saw Johnathan Winters there filming Salute to BAseball several years ago. More than several.

I am going to estimate about 4 hours. Depending on traffic
It is 142 from JFK to Albany. Then figure extra hour.
