It sounds like you might need to be using some kind of heat protectant on your hair. They make styling products that are specifically meant to be used with curling irons. Thermasilk is one brand. You might also try switching to a different hair spray. Also, wait a few minutes after finishing styling your hair before you spray it.

Use STRAIGHT SEXY HAIR anti-frizz hair spray ... it works wonders! (Comes in a tall silver can with a bright red lid)

turn the heat down!....youre frying your hair....the iron is so hot its pulling every bit of moisture out
